Hi card making friends and welcome back. Today I have a couple of cards to share created with the Spellbinders May Embossing Folders of the month Clubs. As always they are fabulous again this month with a Birthday Theme, so it was fun stock piling some birthday cards as I really need them. I used a couple of different ink techniques for today’s cards, I hope you like them.
PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.
I’m carrying on with my May color theme of green, blue and purple. It does really test your creativity to try and stick to these colors all month, haha, but I did it.
Both of these ink techniques are a fast and easy way to add interest to an embossed image without a pile of work.
So let’s jump in with directions for today’s cards.
Spellbinders May Embossing Folders – Candles for Every Birthday
Start by ink blending the card front (4-1/4 x 5-1/2″) with Simon Says Stamp Pawsitivly Saturated Inks in Surf, Pearfection and Iris
Next, place the card front into the Candles for Every Birthday embossing folder and run it through the die cutting machine.
Then, use Gina K white pigment ink, and gently rub the ink pad across the embossed candles to highlight them. Set aside to dry (pigment ink takes awhile – I use my heat gun).
Finally, use Yellow stickles to highlight the flame on each candle.
Embellish with die cut balloons from the Large die of the Month kit, Balloons and Birthday Wishes.
Add a sentiment using the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month Silhouette Balloon Greetings. And a little white gel pen to highlight.
Attach to a top folding A2 sized white card base
Spellbinders May Embossing Folders – 3D Folder Balloons and Banners
Start with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card front cut from Waterfall cardstock.
Next, place inside the Balloons and Banners 3/D embossing folder and run it through the die cutting machine.
Then, using a blending brush, lightly add Pawsitively Saturated Surf Ink to the embossed areas.
Finally, die cut the balloons using the Large Die of the Month Kit Balloons and Birthday Wishes and use foam squares to overlay them onto the piece
Add a white foiled sentiment using the May Glimmer of the Month Kit, Silhouette Balloon Greetings
Attach to a top folding A2 sized white card base.

That’s awesome Sandi! Love the embossed candles! Perfect colors too! 🙂
thanks Amy
A masterpiece, Sandi Love the background, the colours and the candles!
Thank you Sharon, it was fun to make
Really like the first card. When you swipe the GKD white pigment ink over the embossed design, so you use a large pad or the mini ink pads? You got great results so just wondered.. Of all the pigment inks, that one is my favorite.
Thanks Linda, I used the full sized ink pad, and used my other hand to keep the embossed piece as flat as possible for best results
Thanks Sandi ! I have both sizes so will try to large one as you did. I craft all the time but get in a rut. Will be trying the white pigment and embossing soon.
Love them Sandi, fabulous makes as always. I’ve never stuck to the same color palette for long – but you sure make it look fun!
Thanks Lisa, it can be very hard depending on what kind of card you are making, LOL. I like the challenge
Love the extra sparkle on the candle flames! And the colors are great – you never lack creativity!
Thanks so much Sharon, and yeah I do, haha. you don’t see the ones that hit the bin, LOL
