Today’s card is kind of trippy, LOL.  With the eclipse last week, it gave me the idea  to do a kind of “embossed Eclipse” card.  So here we are.  I embossed the background with the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month – Flowering Christmas Tree Burst.  Next, I cut out the tree, ink blended it in the same inks as the background, and then slid it into the same embossing folder, being careful to overlap the design where I wanted to place the tree on the card, and embossed it.

It’s not a true “eclipse card”, because the tree is not actually cut out from the background, but with all the embossing, it does appear that way, and it’s a bit easier to create too.

How to create the Spellbinders Embossed Christmas Tree Card

Start with a card front of Hammermill white cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″ and ink blend the surface:
Distress Oxide Inks Used:  Mowed Lawn, Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles.

Next, place the card front inside the 3D Embossing Folder and run it through the Platinum 6 die cutting machine

Then, attach it to a top folding, A2 sized white card base.  4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.

Finally, gently run a white pigment ink pad over the embossed area to highlight it.

Creating the Tree for the Spellbinders Embossed Christmas Tree Card:

Start by die cutting the tree.  Ink blend the same three colors on the tree, lining up where they change on the card front.

Next, place it inside the embossing folder, lining up where you want the embossed design and emboss it.

Then, stitch the tree with the DMC Gold Thread.  Use foam squares to attach it to the card front, ensuring you line up the embossed design.

Finally, cut the sentiment and star from the Gold Foil paper.  TIP – the star die is from the July 23 Die of the Month kit.
