The Manger Christmas Card

Hey card making friends and welcome back.  Today I’m sharing The Manger Christmas Card created with this adorable new THE MANGER Die from Simon Says Stamp, All the Joy release.  I had a ton of fun making this one, ink blending the background, stenciling over it to add the stars, and then some simple die cutting, all came together in this beautiful card.

The Manger Christmas Card

There is a BLOG HOP today celebrating the release and sharing all kinds of fun inspiration.  You can start the hop at the Simon Says Stamp BLOG.  Don’t forget to leave a comment at each stop along the hop for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card from Simon Says Stamp.

I went a little retro with this card, although it’s also very quick and easy to create and would be great for mass producing.  If you don’t have time to do the stenciling and ink blending for the background, you could use a star pattern paper to speed up the process.

How to create The Manger Christmas Card

Start with two pieces of white Hammermill cardstock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and ink blend them with Positively Saturated Inks in Seafoam, Surf and Ocean.

Next, use the Essential Arches Dies and cut an arch out of one, and tape it onto the front of the other piece with repositionable tape.

Then, use the Scattered Stars Stencil and Simon Hurley Solar Paste Golden Hour to add the stars.  Clean the stencil and palette knife right away.

Finally, set aside to dry for at least 1/2 hour depending on the humidity in your area.

How to create The Manger Christmas Card – putting it together.

Add a piece of Tear – Rific Adhesive sheet to the back of a piece of Matte Gold Cardstock cut big enough to die cut the manger die.  The adhesive sheet turns your die cut into a sticker by adding adhesive to it, making it easy to apply, and it also makes the die cut piece stronger.

Next, die cut the piece, running it through the die cutting machine a couple of times.  Carefully remove the center background section so you are left with just the manger and glue it to the oval.  Attach the star above the manger.

Then, cut one oval die bigger from Matte Gold cardstock to matte the oval then add foam tape to the back before attaching it to the card base.

Finally, attach the card front to a top folding A2 sized card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″).  Wrap gold cord around the card 3 time securing in the front behind where the oval will be attached.  This makes it look pretty inside the card too.

Attach the arch to the card front.

Even simpler cards:
You can use the new COLOR BLEND CARDSTOCK as your background and simply cut out The Manger  and add a gold embossed sentiment.  You can also pull this die apart to get two images from one die cut.
