3 More Embossing Folder Card Ideas

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today I have 3 More Embossing Folder Card Ideas to share with you.  Tonight is the NEW RELEASE over at SIMON SAYS STAMP called BE BOLD, and this NEW Branching Flowers Embossing Folder is amazing.  Not only is it beautiful, it also comes with die cuts, allowing you to create in so many different ways.  Two of today’s techniques I have already shared videos for, so I have linked those below as well.

This lovely embossing folder has beautiful branches of leaves and flowers as the name depicts.  It also has 4 floral dies to cut out and emboss the florals as an overlay as I did here on card #1.

3 More Embossing Folder Card Ideas – Card #1

Start with two  4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ pieces of white cardstock and ink blend with Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade.

Next, spritz the back of one with water, place inside the Branching Flowers Embossing Folder and run it through your die cutting machine. Once dry, attach to a top folding A2 sized white card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5=1/2″).

Then, using the second ink blended sheet, cut out the 4 flowers.  Place them inside the embossing folder (I hold them in place with glue dots).  Again, run the embossing folder through the die cutting machine.  Attach them over the corresponding flowers using foam squares to pop them up.

Finally, die cut the Handwritten Hello sentiment from the 2nd panel.  Die cut the shadow from vellum.  Glue them together, add small pieces of foam squares to the back and attach in the bottom right side of the card.

Embellish with the NEW – Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems (these things are beautiful, they look like diamonds).

I did these three cards last year using the Anemone Cluster Embossing Folder and Die Cuts set also from Simon Says Stamp, just to give you a few more color ideas – you can view this blog post here:

3 More Embossing Folder Card Ideas – Card #2

There is a video for this Reverse Blackout technique card, linked below, but here are the quick steps.

Start by embossing the image into a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white panel.

Next, using blending brushes, add color to the INDENTED or debossed side.  Don’t worry if you get ink on the background, you will be blacking it out.

Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks I used:  Taffy, Sweets, Sprout, Limelicious.

Then, using a very juicy black ink pad, (I use  VersaFine Clair Nocturne & buy the reinker, this technique uses a lot of ink), and drag it down the card front blackening the background (lots of tips about this step in the video).

Finally, attach to a top folding white A2 sized card base then splatter with Gold Gansai Tambi Gem Colors Paint and Spellbinders White Splatter Paint.  Die cut the Boho Celebrate sentiment in gold and black and attach to the card.

Here is the video I did recently showing this Detailed Reverse Blackout Technique.

3 More Embossing Folder Card Ideas – Card #3

Here’s another super easy technique with ink blending and the Blackout Technique, this time using the embossed side of the image.

Start by ink blending the entire front of a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white card front.

Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks Used:  Royal, Cadette, limelicious, Surf.

Next, place inside the Branching Flowers embossing folder and run through your die cutting machine.

Then, using a thin and medium Sharpie, color in the background.

PRO-TIP – you can also use a brayer and add a ton of black ink to the debossing side of your embossing folder before you emboss, this will mostly color in your background for you and add some black highlights to the high points in the leaves and flowers.

Finally, using a small amount of Gold Rush Lunar Paste, rub it gently (with your finger), over the embossed areas to add gold highlights.  Add a gold and black sentiment using the Fancy Giving Thanks Wafer dies.

NOTE:  In my video, I rub it with a VersaMark Ink Pad and then gold emboss it.  Also works great, and I didn’t have Lunar Paste last year, LOL.

Note #2 – in the video I start by watercoloring the background, just another way of getting color on that card front.  You can also use patterned paper if you don’t want to watercolor or ink blend.
