Layered Iris Die Cut Slimline Card

Hi card making friends.  It’s release day over at Spellbinders and there are a bunch of fabulous new products being released today.  I’m sharing the Layered Iris Die Cut Slimline Card, and an A2 card created with the New Lisa Horton Spotlight Frames and Florals Release.

This new release has many things I love about Spellbinders products.   Beautifully detailed die cut flowers, some very cool die cut background elements and two sets of sentiments, with a large word – with TWO die cut shadows.  AND, a set of smaller sentiments you stamp and cut out together.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

I’m a gardener as well as a card maker and one of my favorite flowers is the iris.  This die reminds me of the Siberian iris I have in my back yard which shows in beautiful shades of purple, so I replicated that today.

Products Used Today:

I really love the background elements in this release.  Behind the Iris in the slimline card is the new Woven Lattice Texture Etched die (cut twice).  I LOVE this as a quiet element behind a floral display.  On the A2 card below, is one of the Stitched Edge Circles Backgrounds dies, there is also a straight line die.  Not shown in the above image is the BetterPress Plates – Spotlight Circle Duo Press Plate, two circle elements to add artful details to your cards.  I’ll circle back in a few days and create a card, because I really want to play with them haha.

How to create the Layered Iris Die Cut Slimline Card.

Admittedly, I went a little overboard with this die cutting, BUT, when my iris plant flowers, it’s a crazy riot of purple, so that is what I was recreating.

Start by cutting the Slimline Card base at 7″ x 8-1/2″, score and fold the 7″ side at 3-1/2″.  You can get more info about SLIMLINE CARDS HERE

Next, using Fog cardstock, cut two Woven Lattice Texture pieces and glue them across the front of the card with the Bearly Art Glue.  The fine tip works really well on these pieces.

Then, using the Layered Iris Die Cut Set – die cut the iris 5 times in light and medium purple cardstock. For the light purple, I ink blended the centers with Simon Says Stamp Violet Ink.  The yellow centers are ink blended with Simon’s Zest ink and the leaves and stems are ink blended with Aegean Ink, also from Simon.

Finally, attach them at random heights along the card starting from the left, leaving enough room for the sentiment at the right.

Die cut the A Little Hello Sentiment in black, white and purple, glue together and mount with foam squares.  Then stamp and die cut the smaller sentiment in white, and cut out with the coordinating dies.

How to create the Layered Anemone A2 Card.

Start with a White A2 sized top folding card base 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″

Next, die cut the stitched circle in white and the fog chevron circle, use tape on the back to hold them together before gluing to the card base.

Then, die cut the floral pieces using the Layered Anemone Etched Dies.  One in Lilac Blossoms cardstock the other in the darker Purple Mist.  I again ink blended the lighter purple and the leaves along with the yellow flower centers.

Finally, glue to the left side of the card.

Die cut the You Make Me Smile 3 layers of the sentiment (I just love that there are two shadows in this die set), and attach to the center bottom of the card.

Embellish with the Two Tone Purple Dimensional Dots.
