BetterPress Summertime Palms Greeting Cards

Hey friends, I’m back today with some BetterPress Summertime Palms Greeting Cards.  The Summertime Palms Better Press Plate is my final post for the Spellbinders June Clubs.  This is a HUGE plate that covers the entire front of a A2 sized card and it’s just STUNNING.  I did a 3 tone inked color variation, and then I Glimmer Foiled with it to share a few different options with you.

With Spellbinders BetterPress Plates, you can ink them for a BetterPress look, AND you can also glimmer foil with them.  I’m going to share cards below using both techniques.  Let’s start with the traditional BetterPress and some ink blending

BetterPress Summertime Palms Greeting Cards – Card #1 – BetterPress

Start by placing your plate onto to the top of the BetterPress platform.  VERY IMPORTANT….TAPE DOWN the grey center portion of the base so it doesn’t move.

Next, attach the BetterPress Cotton cardstock cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ to the clear top.

Then, start inking the plate, I start with light colors and work to dark so I don’t contaminate my ink pads.  So I started with Peridot, ink one third of the plate at the center tips, cover and run the plate through the die cutting machine.

Next, ink the middle of the plate with Teal Topaz, (overlapping the ink slightly), cover and run through the die cutting machine

Then, ink with the Azure ink, again, overlapping the ink slightly, add the cover again, and run through the die cutting machine.

PRO-TIP:  If you don’t tape down the gray panel in your base, it can move, and skew your image.

Let’s Reverse the Ink Process for the next BetterPress Summertime Palms Greeting Cards

Start with a 4 x 5-1/4″ hammermill white card panel, ink blend the panel with Distress Oxide Inks in Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry.  LET THE INK DRY, or heat set it.

Next, place the BetterPress Summertime Palms Plate onto the glimmer hot foil machine, and heat the machine up.  While it’s heating, cut a piece of gold foil slightly larger than the panel, and place it gold side down over the plate.

Then, when the machine lights say it’s ready, cover with the ink blended panel, and process through the Die Cutting Machine.

Finally, attach to a top folding, white A2 sized card base and add the sentiments (from the June BetterPress Club Kit).

If you don’t like bright colors, try a subtle ink blend of 3 shades of blue, or 3 shades of green.

This is the same process, but this time I used Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers and Villainous Potion.

This is also a great panel for a background behind some of the die cuts for this month too, and the flamingo’s from last month.

Embellish with gold foil sentiments and Gold Smooth Disks, or color essential gems
