Hey card making friends, today I’m sharing the Playful Penguins Twofre Christmas Cards. These are from the Simon Hurley Let It Snow release and the Twofer part is I created one background and with the help of one background die, made two cards with it. All the details are below, so let’s dig in shall we.
PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure
There are 4 new dies sets in this fun collection, the penguins, two backgrounds and a great sentiment set. I’ve used three of those on todays cards. The inks used are Distress Oxide Inks in Wilted Violet, Peacock Feather and Mowed Lawn. I love this combination for a Northern Lights kind of vibe in the background and for the clothing and decore the Penguins are decorated with.
I started by creating the background on the right, by ink blending the three colors across a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white card front. Next, I die cut it with the Frozen Flurries background die. I separated out all the snowflakes and bits and glued them to a second card front, doing a light blend of inks over it once it was dry.
The second twofer, is the arch cut for the card on the right, I used the cut out as the background for the penguins over on the right. The would get a little lost in the colored background without it.

How to create the Playful Penguins Twofre Christmas Cards – Card #1
Die cut the penguins and all the little bits, ink blend the edges before gluing them together. There are 3 penguins in the set, and I cut 2 sets, but didn’t use the reindeer penguins in my cards.
Start by ink blending the three distress oxide Inks across the card front.
Next, use the Frozen Flurries background die and cut out the panel, popping out all the snowflakes and bits and setting them aside for the second card. Ink splatter the piece with white ink.
Then, cut a panel of white glitter cardstock to tuck in behind the snowflake panel before attaching to a top folding white A2 sized card base. 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.
Finally, cut another piece of white glitter paper with the Essential Arches dies and use foam squares to attach to the center of the card. Add the penguins and the gift. Ink some additional scraps of white with the Wilted Violet and Peacock Feather inks and use these to die cut the matching sentiments.
Playful Penguins Twofre Christmas Cards – Card #2
Start with the colored snowflakes from card one and glue them down to a white card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Once the glue is dry, ink blend a light coat of all three colors over it and then ink splatter with white ink.
Next, cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ panel from white Glitter card stock and cut an arch with the Essential Arches dies. Use a circle die to cut a white circle, trim in half and tuck in behind for snow, before attaching to the background snowflake panel.
Then, attach to a white A2 sized top folding card base.
Finally, ink blend scraps of white cardstock in purple and blue and use these to die cut matching sentiments. Attach them to the top of the card and the penguins and gift to the bottom. Embellish with some clear gems.

The reason I ask for that specific info is the system that tracks the sales only gives us a dollar amount and company name, we do not know who made the sale.
These are adorable.
It took me a minute to figure out “twofre.” In the US we usually write “twofer.”
Love these penguins and your cards are terrific.
