Three Dies = One Stunning Butterfly Card

I have a bit of a different card to share with you today.  Usually I’m all about bright, happy colors —  USUALLY!  Today, however, I challenged myself to create something soft, quiet, and elegant using an all-white palette and just three dies.

Sometimes it’s fun to step outside your creative comfort zone and try something completely different.  I really enjoyed the process of letting texture, layers, and delicate details take center stage instead of relying on bold colors.

The simple wedding sentiment makes this card perfect for celebrating a happily ever after, but by changing the greeting, you could easily adapt this design for an anniversary, friendship, sympathy, or any special occasion.

Scroll down, and I’ll show you the three easy steps to create this elegant butterfly card.

Elegant all-white butterfly wedding card featuring layered die-cut butterflies, iridescent floral embellishments, and a delicate scalloped frame. A dimensional butterfly centerpiece carries a "To Happily Ever After" sentiment, while the card is photographed on a dark background with scattered butterflies and greenery.

Products used to create the Stunning Butterfly Card:

A dimensional butterfly centerpiece displays a "To Happily Ever After" sentiment, surrounded by fluttering butterflies and photographed on a dark stone background with greenery and berry stems.

Three Simple Steps to Creating This Stunning Butterfly Card:

Step #1 – Create the Card Base:

Trim a panel of Hammermill White Cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and die cut it using the Sparkler Scallop Frames.  Attach the panel to the front of a white, top-folding A2-sized card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″) using foam tape for added dimension.

Step #2 – Die Cut and assemble the Design:

Use the Dewpierce Tiny Butterflies and Dewpierce Butterfly dies to create enough butterflies to cover the front of the card.

Begin by assembling the large butterfly and adhere it to the center of the card using foam squares.  Next, arrange and attach the smaller butterflies around the background, filling the entire scalloped panel with fluttering dimension (but leaving space for the Rainbow Blossoms Embellishments).

To add a touch of soft sparkle, separate the white flowers from the NEW Rainbow Blossoms embellishments and glue them in between the butterflies.  The iridescent finish catches the light beautifully and adds a subtle touch of elegance without overwhelming the all-white design.

Step #3 – Add the Sentiment:

Trim a sentiment from the EZ Strips Traditional Wedding pack and adhere it across the lower portion of the large butterfly’s top wings.  This simple finishing touch completes the card while keeping the focus on the delicate layers and textures.

I hope today’s card inspires you to step outside your comfort zone and try an all-white design.  By focusing on layers, texture, and a touch of iridescent sparkle, you can create an elegant card that makes a big impact with just a few supplies.  Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!
