Trick or Tree | Tim Holtz Halloween Decor

I was supposed to be cleaning up after my Tim Holtz Collector’s Laboratory Curio project, but apparently, putting supplies away is much less fun than making something else! With all those wonderful Tim Holtz goodies still on my desk, a little Halloween distraction was inevitable.

This Trick or Tree Halloween display came together with a Display dome, a Woodlands Alpine Tree painted in candy corn colors, a cheeky jack-o-lantern, and a scattering of confections.  A mini Plaquette and a black -and-white bow add the finishing touches to this sweet little scene.  Cleanup can wait, right!

How to create the Trick or Tree Tim Holtz Halloween Decor:

  1. Start by painting the dome’s cork base black, then set it aside to dry.
Next, paint the tree in candy corn colors.  Once dry, add Collage Medium and sprinkle with Rock Candy glitter for a little sparkle.
  2. Cut off the tree’s wooden base, then fill the pumpkin with hot glue.  Insert the bottom of the tree into the pumpkin and hold it down in place until the glue sets.
  3. TIP – Removing the wooden base allows the tree to fit inside the dome.
  4. Glue the Mini Plaquette to the front, then add a screw head to each side to cover the holes.
Glue the pumpkin and tree to the center of the cork base.
  5. Coat a package of Confections with Collage Medium and Rock Candy glitter, then glue the candies around the pumpkin.
  6. Attach a metal spider to the back of the pumpkin
  7. Finish by wrapping black-and-white ribbon around the bottom of the glass dome and adding a bow.
