Botanical Crest Glimmer Card Making

Hi cardmaking friends and welcome back.  I’m playing with some Spellbinders products today.  The new December Glimmer of the Month Kit and the Fluted Classics Square Etched dies.

As you know Glimmer Foiling is one of my favorite cardmaking techniques and this month’s kit is absolutely fabulous.  I decided to combine it with another new product this month, the Fluted Classics Square Etched dies.  These Fluted Classics Die Sets come in squares, rectangles, slimline, circles and ovals and they provide such a beautiful border, you need these in your stash.

and then I decided to turn it into a Birthday Shaker Card.  So many fun elements in one card….Let’s get into it.

Creating the Botanical Crest Glimmer Card Making Card

Glimmer foil the Botanical Crest in Polished Brass Glimmer hot foil onto a 5-1/2″ square of white cardstock and the Happy Birthday sentiment on a scrap of Pink Sand.

Visit my How to use the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine page for more information on Foiling.

Next, use the Fluted Classics Square die and outline die to cut out the card front.

Use the Botanical Crest window die, to cut out the inside of the crest to create the window.

Create a white cards base that is 5 x 5″ and attach a piece of Pink Sand cardstock, also 5 x 5″ to create the base of the card.

How to create the Shaker Card:

Flip the card front over and glue a piece of clear acrylic over the crest window.

Next, add Darice Foam Strips around the outside edge of the die cut out window in the crest.

Also add foam strips to the outside edge of the card front.

Lay the card base down on your work surface and add Picket Fence Studios 1950’s Christmas Sequins to the center of it.

Remove the protective backing from the foam strips and attach the card front to the card base, trapping the sequins inside the crest window.

Use the flower die in the kit to cut pink flowers and attach them around the crest with a Gold Crystal in the center of each.

There are many different kits available each month from Spellbinders and you can order them from the 1 – 24th of each month.
