My Monthly Hero December

Hey cardmaking friends, thanks for stopping by.  Today I have two card shares using the My Monthly Hero December Card Kit from Hero Arts.  Yes, my kit finally arrived, LOL.  It’s full of fabulousness and I can’t wait to share some card ideas with you.

The theme this month is all about friendship, moving home, new homes, new beginnings.  It could also be about travel, and covid over the past two years.

I wanted to start with just what was in the Monthly Kit and then some of the add ons available this month.

When I first saw this cover die, I thought of chatting over the fence with neighbors, keeping our distance, but still engaging.  It was one of the things I most enjoyed when spring finally arrived here.  Being able to go outside and actually talk to people, LOL.  We moved in the middle of January, so we didn’t really get a chance to meet any of our neighbors until spring.  It’s too cold up here to stand out and chat in winter.  You just wave and run inside, haha.

Creating the My Monthly Hero December Card:

Start by stamping the  6 x 6 City Cling Stamp with embossing and watermark Ink and then embossing with White Detail Embossing Powder.

Use the three inks that come in the kit: Berry Smoothie, Fruit Punch and Lemon Drop Reactive Inks and Ink blend them over the card front with Hero Arts Ink Blending Brushes.

Next, use a damp cloth to wipe off any ink that may be sitting on top of the embossing powder.

Die cut the Cover plate in black and use Hero Arts Precision Glue to glue the die cut piece to the colored background piece.

Attach to a top folding A2 sized card base.

White heat emboss a sentiment to add to the card.

Next Up I combined the City Cling Background stamp from this month’s kit with one of the Die set Add Ons, Neighborhood Houses Fancy Dies.

This die set cuts out these detailed houses and trees allowing you to create your own city scape.

For this card, I die cut the set twice as I wanted two sets of trees, and some houses to practice on as well.

Use Copic Markers to color the pieces:

  • Trees:  YG01, YG25, G94
  • Trunks:  E21, E23
  • Blue House:  B91, B93, E44
  • Yellow House:  YR31, YR24, E44
  • Windows.  B000 and N1

Next, white heat emboss the sentiment onto black card stock using the new Add On Sentiment set Hero Arts Signpost Stamp and Cut.   (there is a fabulous Signpost die that goes with this set).

Create the background by using the Misti to stamp SSS Fog Ink onto a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ piece of Fog card stock.

Mount the card front to the A2 White top folding card base.

Use Foam Squares to attach the elements to the card front.

That’s my two shares today, I hope you found some inspiration in them.  I’ll be back soon with a couple more cards using more of the new release products from Hero Arts.
