Brave Firefighter Card with a Cool Stenciled Background

Hi crafty friends, welcome back!  Today I have a card featuring a super cool new FIREFIGHTER Stencil from Simon Says Stamp.

This stencil is cleverly designed so you can slide an A2-sized card front right into it and easily ink blend the five different layers of smoke or fire.  The stencil gives you the top edge of each section while protecting the area below, making it easy to blend each layer separately.  It took me a minute to figure out exactly how it worked, but once I did, it was super fast and easy.

We have a niece who just completed her firefighter training, so this card is especially for her.  Way to go, Cloe!

Steps to Create the Brave Firefighter Card:

Stencil the Background:

Trim a panel of white cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and place it into the stencil, pushing it down to the bottom, so only the first section is exposied whiel everything above it is protected.

Ink blend this portion with the Citrine Ink.

Reposition the cardstock so the first section is now covered by the bottom of the stencil and the second section is exposed.  Ink blend this section with Honey Ink.
Continue repositioning the cardstock and ink blending the remaining three sections with Mandarin, Apple, and Cranberry Inks.

Once the ink blending is complete, attach the panel to the front of a side-folding A2-sized red card base.

Create the Firefighter:

Use the Firefighter Die to cutthe firefighter silhouette from black cardstock and dry fit it onto the card front.
Use the die-cut firefighter to help position the second stencil, which creates the stream of water coming from the hose.  Use a palette knife to apply Embossing Paste through the stsencil to create the water.

Glue the the die-cut firefighter in place, then set the card aside for at least 30 minutes, or until the embossing paste is completely dry.

Create the Sentiment:

White heat emboss the Thank You sentiment onto red cardstock, then cut it out with the coordinating die.

Place the card inside your Misti, and dry fit the die-cut “Thank You” sentiment beneath the water.  This will help you positiion the “for being BRAVE” sentiment before stamping it in black ink.

Add small pieces of foam squares to the back of the Thank You sentiment and attach it to the card.

Finally, add small dashes and dots of Crystal Stickles across the embossing paste water to give it some sparkle and make it look like water gushing from the hose.
