Hi cardmaking friends! I’m trying something a little different and inviting you to Design a Card With me.
I often get questions about my design process — how I choose colors, arrange my elements, decide what a card needs, and sometimes, just as importantly, decide when to stop adding things! LOL
So, for today’s video, I’m taking you behind the scenes and walking you through my entire thought process as I create this beautiful sunflower thank-you card from start to finish.
Rather than giving you all the step-by-step construction details here, I’m sharing those in the video so you can actually see the design come together and hear why I made each decision along the way.
Products Used for the Sunflower Thank You Card:
The stars of this card are the Simon Says Stamp Sunflower Blooms Dies and the gorgeous Opulent Thanks Die.
I die-cut the sunflowers and foliage from white cardstock so I could completely customize the colors with ink blending. I love how the sunny hellow flowers and soft aqua-green leaves look against that deep moss green background and brown leaves.
The oversized Opulent Thanks sentiment adds a beautiful finished touch, especially with the gold layered over the green shadow die.

Cardstock Cuts For the Project:
Hammermill White:
4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″ – card base
4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ (4) – Die cut flowers and leaves
Moss Green: (retired Simon Says Stamp)
4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ – card front
3-3/4″ x 5″ – center panel for card front
2-1/2″ x 5-1/2 – shadow for sentiment
Matte Gold:
2-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ – sentiment
