Dark and Moody Leaning Lily Card with Altenew Nesting Arches

I have a stunning Dark and Moody card to share with you today, created with the Altenew Leaning Lily Bundle.  I absolutely love these bundles because they include the coordinating stamp, layering stencils, and die, making it quick and easy to create beautifully detailed floral cards in very little time.

I also finally added the Altenew Nesting Arches Die Set to my collection, so I couldn’t resist incorporating those into today’s design.  What I love most about these arches is that they’re about an inch narrower than the other arched die sets I own, which gives them a taller, more elegant appearance.  They’re incredibly versatile and so much fun to design with.

Scroll down for all the details on how to create today’s Dark and Moody Leaning Lily Card.

How to Create the Dark & Moody Leaning Lily Card:

Create the Card Base:

Trim a panel of Cosmic Sky cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and attach it to a top-folding white A2-sized card base.

Using the Altenew Nesting Arches Die Set, die cut one arch from mirror gold cardstock and a second, one size smaller, from Cosmic Sky cardstock.  Adhere the two arches together, then attach them to the center of the card front with foam tape to add dimension.

PRO-TIP – This simple two-die-cut technique instantly adds layers, dimension, and elegant framing to your card design.

Place the card inside your splat box and splatter it with white and gold paint.  Set aside to dry

Create the Floral image:

Using your MISTI, stamp the Leaning Lily image onto a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ panel of Hammermill White cardstock with Silver Lake Ink.

PRO-TIP – I like to stamp my outline first with a light gray ink, complete all of the stenciling, then stamp the image again with black ink.  This keeps the black lines crisp and eliminates any smudging that may occur while blending through the stencils.

Use the coordinating layering stencils to ink blend the flower and leaves.  For added depth, layer your ink colors within each stencil, keeping the deepest shades toward the center of the flower and blending out to the lighter pink at the tips of the petals.  Using the Micro Blending Brushes helps get into the small center areas.

Once the image is completely dry, die-cut the image using the coordinating die.

Assemble the Card:

Attach the floral image down the right side of the arched panel using foam squares.

White heat emboss a sentiment onto a scrap of Cosmic Sky cardstock, die cut it, and adhere it across the lower portion of the card.

Finish by embellishing the card with gold sequins in a variety of sizes for a touch of sparkle and added interest.
