for my projects today, I’m creating with the beautiful new Alstroemeria Blooms Embossing Folder. I started out playing with the Blackout Technique, added some easy watercoloring with Karin Markers, and before I knew it, I had three cards to share with you!
Products Used for the Watercoloring with Karin Markers Card:
- Alstroemeria Blooms 3D Embossing Folder
- Karin Markers #281 green and 247 Purple
- Ocean Ink Pad:
- Paper Cut Word Mix 1 sentiment dies
- Woodland Friends Stamp and Die set
- Chunky Ovals Die Set
How to create the Watercoloring with Karin Markers cards:
Card #1
Trim a piece of watercolor cardstock to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and emboss it with the Alstroemeria Blooms Embossing Folder.
Working on the indented side of the panel, watercolor the image using the two Karin Markers, and a waterpen to move and blend the pigment.
Once the panel is completely dry, gently swipe an Ocean Ink pad down the surface to fill in the background while highlight the beautiful embossed details.
Allow the panel to dry again before adding a splatter of white paint.
Wrap gold thread around the panel three times, then attach it to a White A2-sized card base.
Finally, die cut the sentiment using the Paper Cut Word Mix 1 die set and attach it with foam squares for a little added dimension.
Card #2
For card two, I tried the Faux Watercolor Technique – I shared in THIS VIDEO:
I used the same Karin Markers as above, andadded #654 Turquoise to color the background.
Once the panel was dry, I wasn’t completely happy with the background as it was a little splotchy, so I lightly ink blended over it with Ocean Ink. This darkened the watercolored floral image a bit, but I really like the beautiful, dark and moody look it created.
I finished the card in the same way as the first, adding white splatters and gold thread.
The sentiment is from the Woodland Friends Stamp Set and cut out with the Chunky Ovals Die Set.
Card #3
I used a watercolor panel I had previously spritzed with Distress Sprays and embossed it with the Alstroemeria Blooms Embossing Folder.
Next, I gently dragged a white pigment ink pad over the surface to highlight all those beautiful embossed details, then finishing the card in the same manner as above.
For this one, I switched things up slightly and added a strip of gold cardstock instead of thread. The sentiment is also from the Woodland Friends Stamp Set.
This embossing folder is so versatile! I’m pretty sure I could come up with another three or four techniques to try it with – maybe that’s a future post, haha.

Each of your cards were different from the other two but each one is equally beautiful. I love the colors on the first two but was equally smitten with the third card that doesn’t have as much color as the first two but is equally stunning. I enjoyed the marker techniques you’ve been sharing recently but I can always count on you to share a great technique.
