Floral Card with Stenciled Mandala Background

Hi cardmaking friends and welcome back.  Tonight is the NEW RELEASE from Simon Says Stamp called SPLENDOR and you are going to fall head over heels for these new products.  I sure did, LOL.  My first card is a Floral Card with Stenciled Mandala Background.  The Mandala stencil is new for this release and the Fresh Cut Floral Stem S858 is from the Just a Note Release.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

Floral Card with Stenciled Mandala background

This card is super clean and simple with a single floral overlay so that the background stencil really shows up.  Of course I had to add a little splatter just to highlight it as well.  Splatter makes everything better.

GiveAway:  Apparently, I liked the Fresh Cut Floral Stem so much, I ordered two, so I’m doing a give away for one lucky reader.  Just pop over to my Instagram page, click the follow button, and leave a comment to be entered to win.  This giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Instagram.  By entering, all entrants confirm that they are 18+ years of age and completely release Instagram of any responsibility.
I will do a draw on Sat. Feb. 17th and will notify the winner.

How to create the Floral Card with Stenciled Mandala Background

Start with a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Hammermill white cardstock.  Secure the Spring Floral Mandala stencil over the left side and using a blending brush, blend Surf Ink through the stencil, and around the outside edge slightly.

Next, place in a splat box and splatter with white and gold paint.

Then, while the paint is drying, die cut the Fresh Cut Floral Stem from White Hammermill cardstock.  Next, using blending brushes, blend the pieces using Pawsitively Saturated Inks from Simon Says Stamp:  Seafoam/Surf/Ocean for the flower and Sprout/Limelicious/Pearfection for the stem and leaves.

Finally, use foam squares to attach the flower over the stenciled Mandala and attach a preprinted sentiment from the CZ Designs Reverse Birthday set.

Then, use Crystal Stickles to add a bit of bling to the outside edge of the flower petals and leaves.

  1. Love the look the stencil gives to the card. It makes a terrific background. That flower is lovely as well.

  2. Beautiful card, Sandi. I love the idea of not using the stencil over the entire background. It really creates a different, clean look to the card.

So many times I read others comments and think they said it all already so I’m not going to read what others say anymore. This card is so stunning! I really love the addition of glitter. Let’s bring glitter back!
