Hero Arts Cozy Penguin

Hi card making friends.  Today I’m sharing a cute Hero Arts Cozy Penguin card as part of the Global Design Team’s Instagram Hop.  You’ll want to hop over and join in as the prize this month is really amazing.  You can start on my Instagram page here.

The Hero Arts Cozy Penguin bundle is part of this months NEW RELEASE from Hero Arts full of all kinds of winter wonders.  This adorable little guy is so sweet all on his own, but, he has some very cute clothing you can adorn him with too.  I chose the hat and scarf, but I did color up that sweet sweater too.  In the end, the sweater was overkill for today’s card, so I’ll save it for another.

This will be my final post as part of the Hero Arts Global Design Team.  My year is up and it’s time to move on.  We are starting the renovation of the second floor of our house, so I need to claw back a little personal time to work on that.  I also want some extra time to get back into creating Card Making Videos more frequently.  I enjoy creating them but it’s hard to do when you have looming deadlines all the time.  So thank you Hero Arts, it’s been a blast.

How to create the Hero Arts Cozy Penguin Card:

Start with a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Hammermill cardstock.  Place it into the Misti and stamp the penguin, the hat and scarf in Intense Black Ink.

Next, color with Copic markers:

Purples:  V12, V15, V17, Blues:  Boo and B23.  Black 100

Then, cut out the images with the coordinating dies.

Ink Blending the Background:

Start with a piece of Hammermill white 3-1/2 x 5.  Stamp the snowflakes and white heat emboss them.

Next, using blending brushes to blend Wilted Violet and Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Inks from the top down, fading to white at the bottom to resemble snow.

Then, once dry, splatter with white paint.

Place the dry piece back into the Misti and stamp the sentiment in the bottom right corner in black ink.

Putting it all together:

Start by adding foam tape to the back of the card front and attaching it to a top folding white A2 sized card base (4-1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5-1/2)

Next, add the clothes to the penguin using foam squares to add dimension.

Then, attach him to the left side of the card again using foam squares.

Finally, embellish with Icicle Stickles
