Hey card making friends.  I’m so happy you stopped by.  Today I’m working with the Hero Arts June 2022 My Monthly Hero kit and I have two fun Fishy Shaker cards to share with you.

Head under the sea with the June My Monthly Hero release.  A beautiful mermaid greets you, with hair flowing and tail shimmering.  She’s accompanied by a colorful fish and jelly, with seagrass and coral surrounding her.  Pearls are an accent to this kit with an image, messages, and embellishments uniting the theme.  The kit is rounded out with a Reactive Ink Palette and brush, perfect for watercoloring the images or creating gorgeous underwater backgrounds.

How to create the Hero Arts June 2022 My Monthly Hero Fish Shaker Cards:

NOTE – the backgrounds are exactly the same.  the one on the left was stenciled on 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 ” white cardstock the one on the right on Mist Cardstock (isn’t the difference amazing).  By simply changing the card stock color I was able to make the blue card cool colors and the pink card warm colors using the same 4 colors to ink blend.

First, starting with the Tide Stencil from this month’s add ons, place it over the white card front and use blending brushes to blend Hero Hues Inks through.

TIP –  use Pixie Spray on this stencil, it’s very delicate.

Inks Used:  Lemon Drop, Taffy, Thistle, and Pool Party

Then, use a Misti to stamp the fish, seagrass and coral onto white card with Intense Black Ink.

After that, color with copic markers:

Pink Fish:  R21, RV13, YG03 – Purple and Blue Fish:  B01, B32, V12 – Green and Blue Fish:  Boo, B01, B32, YG03 – Kelp YG03, YG17, R22, Y15 – Coral:  R22, R21, Y15

Finally, use the coordinating frame cuts to cut out all the art pieces.

Creating the Edge to Edge Shaker Card:

Start by cutting down cello packaging to 5-1/4 x 6-1/2.

Then, add red line tape around three sides and remove the protective cover.

Next, place the stenciled card front face down on the cello and secure the three sides to the back.

Then, shake in the Hero Hues Sequins – Seashore (perfect for these cards).

Finally, add red line tape to the open end, remove the protective cover and secure to the back of the card front.

Attach it to a top folding A2 sized white card base.

Adding the Sentiment and Art Pieces:

First, white heat emboss the sentiments onto scraps of black card stock and then cut them out with the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies.

Next, add white glue to the back of the kelp and coral and glue to the bottom front of the card.

After that, use foam squares to attach the sentiment and fish.

Finally, add pearls for the bubbles.
