Moody love Mixed Media Card:
Products Used:
Start with a piece of watercolor paper 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and cut out the Grand Corner Leaves 6 times. Snip off the berry stem, lay them on your glass mat and spritz them with Distress Mica Stain: Tree Lot, Snow Flurries, Wonderland, Juniper Berry. DO NOT WIPE THE GLASS MAT CLEAN.
PRO-TIP – Spray and then heat set them, then spray again and heat again for darker tones.
Next, take a second piece of watercolor paper, spritz the spray already on your mat with water to dilute it a bit, and smoosh the watercolor paper into the mixture. Heat set and smoosh again until you fill the entire piece with a light coating of the color.
Cut a 4 x 5-1/4″ piece for your card front and set aside the remaining bit to cut out your flowers.
Moody Love Mixed Media Card – creating the card front.
Start by die cutting the Whirl Diamond Plate from a piece of black card stock, 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Squeeze a small amount of Gilded Distress Foundry Wax onto your glass mat, and using your finger, add it to the swirly bits. Heat Set to bake it out. Repeat the process with the edges of the leaves.
PRO-TIP – if you don’t have Gilded Distress Foundry Wax, simply use your finger to rub some VersaMark Ink onto the pieces, and heat emboss with gold embossing powder, you will get a very similar look.
Next, add a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of black card stock to the front of a top folding White A2 sized care base. Attach the smooshed card front and then attach the Whirl Diamond Plate black card front.
Then, using liquid glue, attach the leaves down the right side and across the bottom.
Moody Love Mixed Media Card – Embellish the Card.
Start by using the new Fancy Love You die, cut two in black and one from matte gold. Stack them and attach them near the top left of the card.
Next, using the Daisy Heads Die, cut three from the smooshed watercolor paper, adding black centers. Use small pieces of foam squares to attach them to the card.
At this point, I thought about using the Distress Foundry Wax on the flowers as well, but I really like the contrast of the lighter color and no wax. I also considered using the Foundry Wax on the Berry pieces I had cut off and decided against that too. You could also cut the berry pieces from the matte gold cardstock and tuck them in between the leaves and flowers for more contrast. Just some additional options to consider.
