New Card Making Video Layering Die Cut Card

Hey card making friends, welcome back.  I have a New Card making Video Layering Die Cut Card for you today.  I jumped outside my color box too with PURPLE – yep, no blue in sight, haha.  I ordered all these fun dies from the last two releases from Simon Says Stamp and they were all sitting on my table, and I thought, man, that would make a great card – so here we are.

Gentle Blooms Die Cut Card

The star of the show is of course the Whirl Diamond Plate background.  It adds an amazing amount of design and texture to your card front.  It’s super easy to cut, the detail is FABULOUS and it looks great with grungy gold embossing too see this card.

How to create the Layering Die Cut Card

Dies you need:

  • Whirl Diamond Plate S872
  • Gentle Blooms S885
  • Nested Circles Wafer Dies SSSD11146

Start with Spellbinders Purple Mist card stock.  Cut two at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.  Use one as a card front over a top folding A2 sized card base (4-1/4″ x 11, score and fold at 5-1/2″).  Then, die cut the second one with the Whirl Diamond Plate and use foam squares to attach it to the card front.

Next, die cut the gentle blooms floral 7 – 9 times or as many as you like to create the wreath.  Color the pieces with copic markers.  I did a messy copic coloring and I show you on the video.

Greens:  G12, G14, 17, G17, G28   Purples:  V01, V12, V15, V17.

Creating the Wreath for the Layering Die Cut Card.

Start by cutting a circle using the nested Circle Wafer Dies from Lilac Blossom card stock and attach to the card front where you want to build the wreath.  Using a darker piece of purple, adds depth to the center of the card and also pulls out the darker color at the base of the flowers.

Next, lay the leaves around the circle, then add the flowers.  When you are happy with the placement, cover with a piece of press n seal.  Press well and then pick up the entire press n seal with the wreath attached and turn it over.

Then, add liquid glue to the back of the wreath, flip back over and lay onto the card.  Place something heavy on it until it’s dry.

Embellishing the Layering Die Cut Card.

Start by cutting sentiments from the Bestie CZ Designs Sentiment Strips and use foam squares in the center to attach them flat across the wreath.

Next, use the Spellbinders Crystal Mix Color Essential Gems for some bling.

  1. It’s beautiful Sandi, I always love a wreath and this one is so pretty! And I agree, that background die is gorgeous. Would work on so many different designs.
