Welcome back friends. Today’s new Card Making Video is Pocket Gift Card Holders. Spellbinders recently sent me the new Wendy Vecchi “Not Your Ordinary Card Collection” die set and boy did I have fun with it. I actually played with it for 2 entire days. There is a Build a Plaid Layering Stencil set that is so much fun to play with. The Essential Envelope Die Set, has a large die that creates the pockets and some flowers, leaves and sentiments to decorate them. I’m sure I made 20 pockets, LOL. Then once you have plaided them all up, you decorate them with the other add on die sets.

I’m going to start by saying, these Pocket Gift Card Holders dies are just Way TO MUCH FUN to play with. Seriously, I have not had this much fun “working” in a long time, haha….they really got my creative juices going and if I didn’t have a husband to feed and a house to clean, I would still be creating, LOL. But I had to stop somewhere. SO, I plugged in the video camera so I could share my excitement with you.
Speaking of Video Cameras. I have a new one and a new set up, so please be kind while I get used to it, LOL. The sweet spot, is in a different place, and none of the program buttons are where they used to be, and after 14 years with the same system, this old dog is learning new tricks, LOL….I’ll get better, I promise, haha.
Pocket Gift Card Holders – The basics
I’m not going to going into detail on how to build these, as it’s all in the video. But, I have some tips for you.
Use, light weight cardstock. Dig around in your stash for the light weight stuff. The lighter it is, the easier it is to burnish and fold.
You can get two pockets out of one sheet of cardstock. Cut it in half at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″.
Next, use your lighter colors so that when you do your plaid stenciling, your ink colors show.
****PRO-TIP**** – Glue the bottom tab of the pocket on the OUTSIDE, otherwise, the inserts will not go all the way down inside. (I demonstrate this in the video).
Pocket Gift Card Holders – More Tips.
In the second part of the video, I show you how to use the plaid layering stencils. I have a few tips here as well.
Grid Paper and Best Ever Craft Tape make creating these so much easier….again, I share this in the video.
Repeat your colors, in different thicknesses. Keep your colors to 2 or 3 per pocket.
Try plaid, then try stripes, then place your pocket on an angle and try it that way – they are all a blast.
Pocket Gift Card Holders – all occasion cards.
There are so many great dies in these sets and they all work together. You can pretty much create a pocket for any occasion.
Next, try pattern paper. I did the one on the right all with paper from my stash to create a fun birthday card pocket.
Then, see how many different ways you can dress up the kitty, haha, he/she is so adorable.
