Why I love the Simon Says Stamp Monthly Kits?
- They are carefully put together with products that coordinate
- They come with fabulous stamp sets and often coordinating dies (or add on dies)
- They have new products in them for me to try
- There are enough supplies to make 5 – 10 cards and I still have product left over
- They are a great value – and who doesn’t love a deal!
So on today’s card share. I have been looking at that Vicki Boutin Patterned paper in the kit and I decided to use it to create a card – yep the whole thing.
To make the images POP – I started by black heat embossing the flower and leaves onto two of the smaller print patterned papers and then fussy cutting them out.
This is a great way of adding interest and detail without any work at all, but I did find them a little dull, so I used my water pen and Zig markers to add a tiny bit of color. I used #092 Blue Gray on the large flower and #050 Yellow for the center. Then I added a bit of #041 Light green to the stem and leaves, look closely, you can still see the teal blue writing on the leaves.
After that, I started working on the background. I first cut the wave piece 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 and attached it to a A2 sized card base. Then I used Waffle Flowers Picture Frame dies to cut out the frame from the darker teal patterned paper and Foam Tape to attach it to the card front.
Finally – I added my cut out flower elements with some Foam Tape to pop them up a bit, a white heat embossed sentiment and for the final embellishment, a light sprinkle of those amazing Nuvo Crystal Gems (they are AWESOME).
