Hi stamping friends, I have a quick and easy card to share with you today created with the Outline Leaves and Filigree Wreath products from Simon Says Stamp.
Have you ever had one of those days where you’re tired (a thunder storm kept me awake all night), you are jonzing to color, but you don’t want to put a lot of effort into it, haha….? That was me the other day. BUT, I had just received the Filigree Wreath Die from Simon Says Stamp last release and I so wanted to play with it.
I dug through my stamps and found the Outline Leaves Background stamp. This is a big strappin’ fellow at 6 x 6 inches in lush red rubber and he makes great backgrounds.
Quick Tips:
- In addition, I’m also playing with the NEW Sentiment stamp set Thanks and Encouragement Word Mix 1 (more about that in a sec), and I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black into onto a piece of Simon Says Stamp Jelly Bean card stock.
- Next I stamped the background stamp onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 80# card stock in the same ink.
- I decided that simply coloring the background would give me my “coloring fix” without having to think to hard, so I grabbed my YG03 Copic Marker.
- Finally, I attached the colored piece to a SSS pre-cut and scored white card base, and DONE. Ok, the background was done.
Back to those sentiment stamps for a second.
These Thanks and Encouragement stamps are really cool. There are two stamps in this set, each stamp has 13 sentiments. So you stamp the entire thing onto a piece of card stock, line up the die and run it through your cutting machine. Viola – 13 sentiments – now is that cool or what? LOVE this idea and I heard – SSS is bringing out more like this for Stamptember, so stay tuned.
Back to the card. Next I die cut that beautiful FILIGREE WREATH from a 4 x 4 inch piece of Neenah Solar White 80#, it cuts beautifully. Then I used the Nested Circles Wafer Dies to cut around the outside and inside to create the wreath.
I attached it to the card center with small pieces of foam tape before adding my sentiment in the center, and another strip sentiment underneath.
DONE. bright and cheery, quick and easy and I love the retro feel of this card.
