Simon Says Stamp More Celestial Wishes

Hey card making friends, I’m back with Simon Says Stamp More Celestial Wishes.  I really like this stamp set so after yesterday’s 1 layer super clean and simple card, I thought I would get my freak on in the mixed media arena and have some inky fun, haha.  I only used three of Simon’s Ink pads for today’s cards, but with the ink blending it made some beautiful new colors too.  Full card details are below and I also made a little ATC which seem to be having a comeback of late.

Pawsitively Saturated Inks Used:
Taffy, Sweets, Citrine, Sunbeam and Amethyst.  I picked the medium and dark from the pink and yellow families, but I ended up only using the darks of each one.  You might like the softer hues, but remember, they lighten slightly as they dry.

I also reused the circle stencils I made for the last card in today’s projects, allowing for some fun detail in the background ink blending.  If you missed it, I took the nesting circles dies and 3 pieces of 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ white cardstock, cut the circles in the center of the cardstock to create stencils.

Simon Says Stamp More Celestial Wishes Card #1

Start with a piece of white hammermill cardstock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2 and using blending brushes, ink blend the pink and yellow inks across the piece.

Next, using the circle stencils, add a pink circle to the yellow part and a yellow circle to the pink part.  At the end of this I also added a bit of purple in at the top of the pink .  Once the ink is dry, gold heat emboss the stars stamp in the yellow circle and the star burst in the bottom pink circle.

Then, place the piece on a protected work surface and using the dots stencil from the new Tiled Posy Stencil, and Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel in Iridescent, add some dots around the circles then splatter it with gold paint and Spellbinders Splatter white, as well as water.  Set aside to dry.

Finally, create another piece of the ink blended background.  On this piece you want to stamp the dragonfly, and both leaf dies in VersaMark ink and gold emboss them.  I got the dies for this set making it super easy to cut out these pieces to add to my card.

Create a card base from white cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11, score and fold at 5-1/2″.  Cut a piece of pink cardstock for the card front, 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.  Cut the art piece down to 4 x 5-1/4″ and distress the edges with the Tim Holtz Distressing Tool.

Attach the art piece and then use foam squares to attach the embossed die cut pieces.  Embellish with Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.

Simon Says Stamp More Celestial Wishes – ATC

Basically all the ink blending and layering are the same as the card above.

ATC size is 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″.  Cut the background pink piece that size.  Cut the art piece 1/8th” smaller.  I used the Spellbinders New Corner Punch to round the corners on all the pieces before gluing them together.  (love this new compact punch – see thumbnail below).

When heat embossing do the smaller moth and smaller sentiment.
