December Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month

Spellbinders December Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month –  Mix and Match

Aptly named as the kit contains 5 plates to create the delicate ovals:  Three floral images and two sentiments for you to Mix & Match.

Also included, the larger sentiment (in the center of the card), and the outline die to cut it out.

Glimmer foiling on colored card stock is a great way to really make the colors pop.

First off, I started by foiling the oval onto the blue card stock for my center art piece.

Next, create a contrasting black background by gold foiling the largest of the Essential Glimmer Rectangles Plates.  It really shows off the beauty of the oval image.

Once you have foiled the oval, color the floral images with Prisma Colored Pencils.

Finally, fussy cut out the image and attach it with foam squares to the center of the black background to highlight the oval image and the glimmer foiling.

Spellbinders December Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month – Card #2

Similarly, today’s second card is glimmer foiling on black cardstock and I was so happy with how it turned out.  It just shines.  The kit contains Silver Foil this month, but I switched it out for gold.

Likewise, color these images with Prisma colored pencils.

TIP – put down a base coat of white, and then add your colors, it really helps them pop.

After that,  trim the rectangle down so that the glimmer rectangle mat peeks out from behind.

To really pull the color of the berries I matted this one with pink cardstock before mounting to a black top folding A2 card base.

Finally, both cards were embellished with a few FSJ Fashion Gold embellishments.

  1. I am in love with these two beauties that you have created! The colors pop, the dies are amazing and they all come together perfectly thanks to your creativity! Wow.

  2. I love these hops because we all get to see what is possible and get a good dose of inspiration! I really enjoyed your Count Down to Christmas Video and this is just as inspirational. Glimmering has become such a favorite of mine and I discovered it through these blogs. Love you used pencils to color and I am going to see if you have a video on how to do that effectively. Thanks Sandi – just jaw dropping makes.

Oh my, the glimmer foil on colored card stock is beautiful! I’m so excited to try that technique myself. Thanks for the reminder to use white pencil as a base coat!

  4. Am loving how you paired all of these glimmer plates together!! The gold with the black and turquoise backgrounds! Gorgeous work!!

  5. Lovely cards. I am new to foiling and love it on the black – I will have to give this a go. The colors on your cards popped and the foiling adds an elegance to them. Thanks for sharing your lovely talent with us.
