How to create the Spellbinders Grand Tropics Hand Made Cards – Card 1

Start with a 5 x 7 piece of watercolor paper.  Spritz with water and cover with Nuvo Shimmer Powders Atlantis Burst in blues and purples – let dry completely.

Next, spritz the back of the watercolor paper with water, place inside the Scattered Tropics embossing folder and run through the die cut machine.  Let dry completely.  Then use a blending brush to add Distress Oxide inks in Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet to highlight the embossed design.

Then, attach to a side folding 5 x 7 white card base.  7″ x 10″ score and fold at 5″

Die cut the birds from Pink Sand cardstock, ink blend Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink to the bottom section.

Next, cut the foliage from Rain Forest cardstock and ink blend with Pine Needles Distress Oxide Ink.  Cut the Palms from Cosmic Sky card stock.

Finally, die cut the flowers from white and ink blend the center with wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink.  Glue together and attach all to the card with Bearly Art Glue and Foam Squares.

Add the sentiment which has been white glimmer foiled on black cardstock.

How to create the Spellbinders Grand Tropics Hand Made Cards – Card 2

Start with a piece of white cardstock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2 and ink blend with Distress Oxide Inks in Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet.  I love using jewel tones on tropical themed cards to really showcase the beautiful foliage.

Next, spritz the back of the piece, place inside the Lattice Work Embossing Folder and run through the Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine.  When dry, attach to a top folding A2 sized white card base 4-1/4″ x 11″ score and fold at 5-1/2″.

PRO-TIP – do not spritz the front of the piece, it will activate the Oxide Ink and it will splotch and run.

Then, die cut all the foliage.  The Palms in extra watercolor paper colored with the Nuvo Shimmer Powders from card #1, the leaves from Rainforest and the flowers in white, all ink blended with the same colors as card #1.

Finally, glue them all to the card base using Bearly Art Glue and Foam Squares.

Finish with a white glimmer foiled sentiment created with the BetterPress You are Everything Sentiments set.

  3. Love these cards. As usual, stunningly beautiful! Writing this while in Maui, so they are really inspiring me to create some more floral cards and also share your cards from this collection with my granddaughter, who is here as well.

    1. well now I’m just jealous, your sitting under an unbrella, sipping on a nice cold drink, enjoying what I can only create on paper, LOL. HAVE FUN

      1. Thanks, Sandi! Here to celebrate 50 years of marriage to the same guy! My son’s family came to help us celebrate.

  4. I have to admit, when I first saw May’s clubs I felt a little disappointed; however after seeing all the examples I have done a 360! Lovely inspiration and the colors are devine. I am in love with all; but those flamingos are my favorite.
