Spellbinders November Large Die of the Month Club

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  I have the Spellbinders November Large Die of the Month Club projects for you today.  These are a little different and so much fun.  The die set is called Merry Stitching and here’s why:

When you die cut these dies, they cut holes into the images that you stitch through.  I used to do a lot of crewel and cross stitch when I was younger and stitching these brought back some great memories.  Similarly, I found it very relaxing and can I just say, thank God for Trifocals, haha.  Furthermore, I have a couple of people in mind who are going to love to receive these for Christmas.

There are three dies in the set to stitch and three to cut out the images.  Today I’m sharing the tree images with you and I’m using the others in upcoming blog posts.

Here’s a close up of the tree and the stitching.  I used the DMC thick gold thread for my projects and I cut the tree out of 110# Neenah and they worked perfectly together.  One tip, use a small piece of scotch tape on the back where you start, that way you don’t have to hold on while you do stitches, and it keeps everything nice and taunt.

How to create the Large Die of the Month Club Cards:

  • Both card bases are Neenah 110# A2 top folding.
  • Next I used Spellbinders Oatmeal Cookie card stock and the Candlewick Rectangles dies to cut some backgrounds
  • For the white layers, I gold glimmer foiled the pretty dotted border with the Essentials Glimmer Rectangles to add more BLING to the card
  • The sentiments are also Gold Glimmer and are Yana’s Christmas Sentiments set, a must have in any glimmer collection, I love the fonts on These
  • Finally, I embellished with the Fun Stamper’s Journey Fashion Gold Embellishments.

Also, I cut the stars from Gold foil card to match the glimmer and embellishments.

As a result of there being three layers on each card, I only popped up the tree to add a bit of dimension.  By only doing that one layer, I’m hoping to get by with regular postage, I’ll let you know.

Spellbinders November Large Die of the Month Tag

In conclusion, I was having so much fun stitching these that I did three so I popped the third one onto a gift tag.  As I’m not mailing this one, I also stitched a gold seed bead to the center of each of the stitched circles, (I know, hard to see in the photo).

Finally, I embellished all three projects with the FSJ Fashion Gold Embellishments.  They fit perfectly with the theme of my cards.
