Spellbinders Solid Glimmer Plates

Hey card makers.  I’m playing with a couple of new products today.  The Spellbinders Solid Glimmer Plates and the June Small Die of the month club kit.  I combined the two to create a really clean and simple subtle card.

All supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links are used at no cost to you and product disclosure is below.  As always, I appreciate your support of my Blog and YouTube Channel.
Bin of used glimmer foil

Are you like me and LOVE TO GLIMMER FOIL, but hate to throw out those pretty used pieces of glimmer?  I have a huge bin full and until recently, I really wasn’t sure what to do with them.  Spellbinders to the rescue with the NEW Spellbinders Solid Glimmer Plates.

SPELLBINDERS ESSENTIAL SOLID GLIMMER PLATES:

Introducing the 4 shapes of the Essentials Solid Glimmer Plates, square, rectangle, oval and circle.  I’m playing with the circle one today for my card share.

You use these plates exactly the same as you do with your regular foiling plates however, you place your USED FOIL on them to create the reverse image of what you originally foiled.

The card on the left is my original card using the Magnolia Glimmer Bloom plates in this post.  Today’s card is on the right, where I use the used foil piece, place it on the solid circle plate and run it through the glimmer process to create the reverse image.  Is that cool or what?  AND it’s using up all that pretty foil I just couldn’t throw out.

Spellbinders Solid Glimmer Plate and Small die of the Month Club Kit

Use Waterfall card stock and the dies from the Small Die of the Month Club Kit for June to die cut a tone on tone layer for the card base.

Attach to the card front with liquid glue to attach them leaving a clean space near the top.

Next, use the used piece of foil, laid over the Essential Circle Solid Glimmer Plate and foil it onto another piece of Waterfall card stock.

Finally, cut out the image with the Nestabilities Standard Circle dies and attach to the card front.

This beautiful reverse image has all the gold foil in the background with the blue card stock showing through – It’s stunning in real life, although hard to photograph.

These new lacy dies in the June Small Die of the Month kit are also fabulous for creating overlays for your backgrounds, or you could cut them from a rainbow of colors and make a statement.  The ideas are endless.

FInally,  to embellish, add some Gold Mix Essential Gems on the flat part of the card base.  I kept it really clean and simple so the foiling would be the center of attention.

PS, the sentiment is from the June Glimmer of the Month kit.

  1. As usual your presentation is lovely and informative. These plates are so welcome in my stash – they are game changers! Thanks for the tips/ideas!

  2. Love your cards. I have already bought the plates, just haven’t got round to using them yet, but they’re such a brilliant idea. Very clever use of the Small Die of the Month. At first glance I thought it was a 3D embossing folder. I might be putting that idea into practice when I receive my package.

  3. The solid shape plates are gorgeous aren’t they. I love your card with the circle plate and the beautiful die of the month – so intricate and so pretty and with that foil, so glamorous! Beautiful card Sandi!
