Yana’s Everyday City Holiday Card | Die Cut Card Idea

Hi cardmaking friends – Welcome Back!  Today’s card features the beautiful new Yana’s Everyday City Holiday Card die sets from Spellbinders, and I had so much fun building this sweet little city storefront entirely from die cuts.  This die set is an add-on to Yana’s original City Holiday Collection that came out last fall.

I went with a soft muted color palette of Fog, Teal Topaz, Waterfall, Peridot, Tutu, and Black, which gives the card a cozy springtime feel with just enough contrast from the black cat and dog to make everything pop.

One of my favorite details is how dimensional this card becomes once all the layers are assembled.  The striped awnings, tiny flower boxes, wreath and windows all work together to create the cutest little storefront scene.

Products Used in Today’s Yana’s Everyday City Holiday Card:

Layered storefront card created with Spellbinders Yana’s Everyday City Holiday dies featuring pink striped awnings, flower-filled window boxes, black cats, and a soft spring color palette of Fog, Teal Topaz, Waterfall, Peridot, Tutu, and black cardstock.

Steps to create Yana’s Everyday City Holiday Card:

Create the card Base:

Trim a panel of Waterfall Cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and attach it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.

Die Cut the Building Pieces:

Die cut all the pieces for the card front using Fog, Waterfall, Tutu, Peridot, Black, and White cardstock.  Assemble the windows, door, striped awnings, flower boxes, using liquid white glue.

Assemble the Storefront:

Adhere the fog building die cut  to the card front using foam squares.  Then add the top white trim, door and stairs with additional foam squares to create shadow and dimension.
Add the awnings over the windows, then the flower boxes beneath them using more foam squares to continue building depth throughout the scene.

Add the Finishing Details:

Die cut the wreath from the original City Holiday Die Set, embellish it with the small die cut flowers from the New Everyday Windows die set and attach it with foam squares to the front door.

Finally, die cut the dog and cat from black cardstock and pop them up with foam squares to add yet another layer of depth and personality to the storefront.

Note:  I put the sentiment inside the card on this one as I just wasn’t happy covering any part of this card, LOL

Honestly, if this were my real city home, there would be flowers spilling out of every single window box, too!  Spring is my favorite season, and every year I go completely overboard planting flowers all around the house, so this little scene feels very “me”. LOL.

This is definitely one of those projects that takes a little extra die-cutting time–but the finished result is absolutely worth it.
