Distress Oxide Inks and Wildflowers

I stamping friends, hope you are having an awesome day today.  I have been drooling over all the beautiful cards made in the last two days with the Stamptember Collaboration Stamp set from Hero Arts, Real Flowers Vintage (linked below).  It’s a silhouette set and it reminded me that I had ordered something very similar from Simon last month and have not inked it up yet……Yikes right?  Say Hello to Wildflowers, a two stamp silhouette stamp set.

I decided to use one of my favorite techniques to create the backgrounds, Distress Oxide Ink Blending.  The colors make such fabulous backgrounds.  So, I dug out three and went to town.

Of note – when choosing your colors, think of what color they will create when they overlap….not all colors play nice together as we know.

From the bottom, I started with Carved Pumpkin, then Peacock Feathers and finally Wilted Violet.  Where the Pumpkin and peacock touch, it achieved that beautiful moss green.  When the Peacock and Violet collide, they create that fabulous royal blue.  To me this combo looks like a beautiful sunset, so absolutely perfect for my silhouette stamps.

Both these cards are 10 minutes or less.  Once the background is created, just splatter some glimmer water on, dry it off and stamp the Wildflowers.  Attach it to a folded A2 card base (I did mine in white) and die cut a sentiment.

Beautiful and fast – the perfect combination don’t you think?

  1. These cards are very attractive. I am going to get out my Distress Oxides and give them a try. Both stamp sets are perfect for this technique.
