Simon Says Stamp Be Kind

Hi cardmaking friends and welcome back.  Today I am sharing Simon Says Stamp Be Kind and I use the Misti in a special way for today’s card.

I have some exciting news to share, I have joined the My Sweet Petunia Design Team .  You may know them as the MISTI team and I’m on on their Blog today.  As I love all my Misti’s and use them on every card I make, it’s a great marriage.

pssst, there is also a new Misti being released, I can’t wait to get it and share it with you.

Instructions for today’s Simon Says Stamp Be Kind Card:

Start by placing a piece of Neenah Desert Storm card stock 4 x 5-1/4″ into the bottom left corner of the Misti.  Stamp the image lightly with black ink.

IMPORTANT – don’t remove the stamp from your Misti, we will be stamping again.

The Neenah Desert Storm card stock is 100# and has a beautiful smooth finish so it’s a dream to color on.

Use Prisma Color Pencils to color the image:

  • White
  • Lavender
  • Lilac
  • Parma Violet and
  • Dahlia Purple.

Once the coloring is finished,  place the card front back into the Misti in exactly the same spot.  This time inking the stamp with VersaMark ink and black heat embossing over the image.

Doing the embossing after coloring allows you to color right up to the edge of the image without leaving a little halo effect you often get when you emboss first.

To add a little “background Noise”,  place the card front back into the Misti and used one of the other stamps in the set to stamp in black above and below the colored image.

Use a large Post it Note to mask off the coloring by die cutting it with the coordinating die.

Next,  add white splatter with diluted Winsor & Newton Gouache before adding a few drops created with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Ebony Black.

Then,  wrap some burlap twine around the bottom of the card before adding the sentiments.

Finally,  create the two sentiments from the stamp set, one in coordinating purple, and the large in black, embossing them both in white.

The sentiments are popped up with small pieces of foam tape to add dimension to the card as is the card front before attaching it to my A2 sized base.
