Reverse Confetti Butterfly Wreath

Hello my cardmaking friends and welcome back.  Today, while the snow was falling, (yes another 5 inches overnight – ug!).  I found myself wishing terribly that spring would arrive and I could go outside and play in my gardens.  Pull some weeds, see the first bright green leaves of my tulips popping out, SOMETHING  so I hooted through my “yet to be inked” stash and came up with Reverse Confetti Butterfly Wreath.

Reverse Confetti Butterfly Wreath Cards

I bought this Butterfly Wreath stamp and die set last month from Simon Says Stamp and thought it would fit many occasions and techniques, plus who doesn’t love butterflies right?  (except those pesky white cabbage ones that eat my garden, haha).

I still had my Arteza Real Brush Pens out on my worktable so I used those again for both of today’s cards.

Card Details for the Reverse Confetti Butterfly Wreath Cards:

  • I used my Misti to stamp the images in Gina K Amalgam Black into Bristol white card stock (you could also use watercolor paper) and then used my Arteza watercolor pens and water brush to color them.
  • For the butterflies I used three colors of blue, I put a wash down of the light turquoise and then added dark turquoise to some and Royal blue to others.  I share the color numbers in the PDF File for you.

  • Once I finished coloring I die cut the wreath out with the coordinating dies.  From the scrap, I stamped and colored the additional two butterflies.
  • I used the Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles dies to add a background piece in Fog card and attached that to a top folding A2 sized Thick White card base.
  • The art pieces are mounted with foam tape to add dimension to the card and I white heat embossed the sentiment on a scrap from the Fog card left overs
  • For a touch of bling I added a sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh Sugar Plum Mix jewels. (love their jewels) – and this EMBELLISHMENT WAND makes short work of attaching them.

Reverse Confetti Butterfly Wreath Card #2

  • It was still snowing, so I keep going and color another one, this time in shades of purple and I added a pop of yellow flowers.
  • The background for this one is die cut with the Hero Arts Abstract Graphic Texture Die.  I LOVE the background this die creates, it adds great texture to a card without the bunk of an embossed piece and I think it just looks real classy.

The butterflies are fun to color and small enough that you really get to blend the ink from the watercolor pens too.  I again used a few layers of color and highlighted some dark and some light.

I shared a video last week on different ways I like to color with these Arteza Real Brush Pens and you can view it HERE. You will also find a link to purchase them and a 10% Off coupon they gave me to share with you.
PLEASE NOTE:  I’ve been asked by quite a few Canadian crafters in the past couple of days how to get these pens as Arteza does not ship to Canada.  They are available at Amazon.ca and they are also on sale there, but the additional coupon doesn’t work.

While I was finishing up these cards I was thinking that heat embossing on colored card stock might be kind of fun too.  Perhaps multiple stamping and the Spotlight technique would be cool also.

What would your favorite technique be for this Reverse Confetti Butterfly Wreath Stamp and Die set?

    Bonjour Sandi,
I like the choice of the color of these 2 Butterfly Wreath. I prefer the back of the purple butterfly wreath. I am intrigued by the texture of your table,on which your sage leaves(I think) are sitting, I kind of like it.
Sending lots of warm and sunny days
    Merci
    Yolande

    1. thank you Yolande. on the table, it’s actually a photo board I got from Scotland and the leaves are lambs ear. I wanted something with soft edges and texture for behind my cards, and I’m quite happy with both of these.
