Hi card making friends and welcome back, I’m so glad you stopped in today. I have a beautiful Simon Says Stamp Layered Stencil Card to share with you created with the NEW Dimensional Cube Layered Stencil from the Simon Says Stamp DREAM BIG release.
There are three layers in this stencil making it super quick and easy to add blocks of color to the paper creating FABULOUS backgrounds. The addition of the new Detailed Round Blending Brushes that Simon also came out with really helps add color to those small, detailed spots like the center on todays background.
PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure
I only used 3 colors on today’s card, but with the gradients of the Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively inks, and being able to flip the stencils, you could add a different color into each square without much difficulty. With the use of the Detailed Round Blending Brushes, you could also create a rainbow effect for your background as well. So many possibilities with these versatile stencil sets.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Layered Stencil Card
**** If you would like me to do a video in this technique, let me know in the comments. I’m just finishing up some cards for a Spellbinders Deadline and would be happy to do the video mid week.
Start by placing the white card front onto a protected work surface.
Next, using Post It Note tape, attach the first stencil (the one with all the thin lines) over the card stock.
Then, using blending brushes, add the lightest color ink. I’m using Simon Says Stamp Pawsitivly Saturated Inks – Seafoam.
Next, switch out the stencil for the second one, with the angled half squares.
Secure and use the smaller Detailed Blending Brushes to add the next darker color – Surf
Finally, switch out the stencil to the third and final one with the small squares.
Use a small Detailed Blending Brush to add Amethyst ink for a dramatic pop of color. If you’re not feeling as dramatic as I am, haha, use the darkest Teal Ocean which will still add a nice contrast, just not as bold, LOL.
To finish, die cut the card front with the A2 Thin Frames (2nd from largest) and mount to a top folding A2 white card base.
Creating the Overlay:
Die cut from white card the Etched Laurel Leaves and Etched Meadow Flower and Leaves die set (3 flowers).
Next, use the Detailed Blending Brushes to add ink.
Etched Laurel Leaves – blend a base coat of Surf Ink, then add Celery highlights to the edges
For the Etched Meadow Flower: – Start from the bottom of the flower and blend up with Amethyst. Pounce off ink before you start for a bit lighter touch. Then add a layer of Surf Ink at the bottom of the flower for a shadow.
Then, add the pieces to the left side of the card with foam squares to add dimension.
Finally, add a printed sentiment and some Purple Gems.
