NEW CARD MAKING VIDEO – Elevate Your Die Cut Cards

Hi card making friends I have a NEW CARD MAKING VIDEO – Elevate Your Die Cut Cards with Distress Oxide Ink Blending to share with you today.  I’m using the NEW Fresh Picked release from Spellbinders for today’s video and I’ve created 4 different cards to share.  Adding ink blending to your die cuts will add shadows, depth of field and beautiful contrasts to your cards.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

Starting the process by using colored cardstock also speeds up this process.  However, you can always cut everything from white cardstock and ink blend the entire piece too.  If you do decide to do that, I would highly recommend using a Waffle Flower Grip Mat so you don’t tear any of the pieces.

I won’t go into a pile of detail here as it’s all on the video, but below you will find card stock and ink choices for each of the cards and then the video walking you through the creating of all of them.

Elevate Your Die Cut Cards #1 – Daffodils

Card stock Used:  Spellbinders:  White, Black, Chamomile, Peridot and Mirror Gold.

Ink Used:  Spiced Marmalade and Mowed Lawn

Start with a black background cut at 4″ x 5-1/2″, spritz both sides with the new Mighty Mister Spray Bottle before placing inside the Columns Embossing Folder.

Next, attach the strip of black and white pattern paper down the left side of the A2 card base, then attach the embossed card front.

Then, Ink blend all the pieces using Spiced Marmalade and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink and Spellbinders blending brushes.

Finally, glue all the pieces together and add them to the card front.  Die cut the sentiment three times, twice in green and once in gold.  Stack and attach to the card.

Steps are similar to card one however the background is not embossed on this card.

The flower centers are cut with the solid piece in pink and the overlay with the holes in it in black.  It makes the flowers very dramatic.

  1. Love all these cards, Sandi! They are beautiful and
the colours are spectacular! Looks like you are
    keeping busy and warm!!!

  2. Great video, Sandi. The anemones are so pretty. Thanks for showing us your inking on top of the colored die cuts. That gives so much depth to the colors. Also, I loved how you took an “oops” and turned it into a beautiful border and then used the same for the top of the floral buds to bring it all together. Brilliant!

    1. Thanks Gayle. The air was a little blue when I went to put that card together and saw the card front was the wrong size, haha. It was the 4th card and I was really tired, I had been at it all day, so that was my work around, haha

      1. The video makes it look so quick, but I can’t imagine the amount of time it really takes to bring all those beautiful cards together!

        1. haha, that’s because I did all the die cutting ahead of time. The ink blending does go quite quickly, and then gluing them together goes quite fast as well. It’s a bit slower when you are doing a video of course, but I think it was about an hour a card.

  3. They are all absolutely gorgeous Sandi. Isn’t this collection from Spellbinders amazing? It creates such dramatic cards and I love the stylised flowers. Your cards are beautiful!
