Hi card making friends. Today I’m sharing two Spellbinders February BetterPress Cards. I’m also sneaking in the Clear Stamp and Die Set of the Month, Lily Arch as my third card share today.
BetterPress is becoming a huge hit with crafters around the world with many companies jumping on the bandwagon and releasing beautiful plates. Spellbinders does that EVERY month with their BETTERPRESS Plate of the Month Membership. This month is my favorite so far, flowers and hummingbirds. Both favorites of mine.

I decided to use my Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor pencils to color the images. I have the first 3 sets and they haven’t gotten much airtime. It’s silly really, because I love to paint with them. I use the a water brush to pick up pigment from the tip of the pencil and add it to my image that way. I usually wet the surface I’m going to apply it to first so that it lands lightly and is easy to blend.
I got a little carried away with the coloring and ended up with enough pieces for two cards. That worked out well, because you will see on the black card, I get to share another hummingbird with you.
The February BONUS Item is the Exclusive Fluttering Hummingbird BetterPress Plates & Die Set This set is ONLY available to members of the Deluxe Caboodle Club. He is beautiful.
Spellbinders February BetterPress Cards Card #1
I used the Black BetterPress Ink to impress the images into white BetterPress cardstock.
Next, I used the water brush and the Distress Watercolor Pencils to color the images.
Then, I used Simon Says Stamp A2 Thin Frame to die cut an inlaid piece from the card front, and added in a gold inlay.
Finally, I die cut the sentiment and hummer and added them. I added some Color Essential Gems from the Silver Mix for my bling.
Spellbinders February BetterPress Cards Card #2
The beginning steps are the same as in card one. Then I die cut the hummingbird and sentiment, and fussy cut around the flowers.
Next, use the Essential Arches dies to create a arch from a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of black cardstock. Tape the pieces together on the back with removable tape before placing inside the Swirling Blooms Embossing Folder and running it through the die cutting machine.
Then, remove the arch from the center, cut an arch one size bigger from mirror gold cardstock, layer the two arches and then attach them back to the card front. Attach all of this to a top folding A2 sized white card base. (4-1/4″ x 11 – score and fold at 5-1/2″).
Finally, glue down the flowers to the black arch, then add the hummer and sentiment using foam squares.
Also embellish with the Silver Mix Color Essential Gems.
Spellbinders, Clear Stamp and Die of the Month.
This beautiful set is called Lily Arch.
Start by using a Misti to stamp the floral image and a sentiment onto white cardstock.
Die cut with the coordinating dies and minimalist color the image with Copics.
Pinks: RV10, RV11, Green: YG03, YG17, Yellow: Y11, Y13.
Cut an arch out of a white card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, and then emboss the card front using the Dimensional Diamonds Embossing Folder
Finally, attach the card front to a side folding A2 sized white card base, then overlay the lily oval and glue down using the Bearly art Glue.
Overlay the sentiment across the bottom flower.
Star Gazer lilies are my favorite of all the colors of lilies, but I am SO allergic to their scent. One summer I grew them in my back garden, figuring they would be far enough away from the house as to not bother me. While, this little house didn’t have air conditioning, so the windows were always open. When they bloomed, they filled my house with their scent, I ended up having to go out and cut them down. I gave them to my neighbor who enjoyed them inside her house for days, LOL.
