Hi card making friends and Happy Friday. I love weekends, Ian is home and we get to do fun things together. This weekend we are heading to the city for some retail therapy, and some chores of course. I’m hoping for a little stop at the craft store (my birthday present) and the quilt store, weather permitting. We seem to be in a snowstorm the past 24 hours, LOL Today’s cardio exercise will be via the snow shovel (again), haha. Ok, enough about that, I have a couple of cards to share with you today created with the Simon Hurley Spring Sampler Collection.
PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.
There are two sets of BetterPress Plates and Dies in this release along with a stunning WOVEN design embossing folder. Of course I’m starting with the florals, as they are my Jam, LOL
HOW TO CREATE THE SIMON HURLEY SPRING SAMPLER COLLECTION – SPRING MAGNOLIAS CARD
Start by using your BetterPress and the Spring Magnolias Set with the BetterPress Black ink to impress the images into a piece of watercolor paper. All 3 fit onto a quarter sheet of paper 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.
Next, use Karin Markers to color the images: #654, 264, 305, 166, 281.
Then, cut the images out with the coordinating dies.
Create a White A2 sized card base with a top fold. Then, a card front in Cosmic Sky 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Emboss this piece with the Meandering Floral Embossing Folder (from Nov 23 monthly kits) and attach to the card front.
Cut two ovals, one in white and one in Waterfall and attach to the center of the card and then add the art pieces and sentiments.
PS: Spellbinders NEW Swedish Sponge Cloths are perfect for cleaning your BetterPress Plates and Chase. Add one into your next order, you will love it.
PS, PS: Remember, you can also foil with all of the BetterPress Plates, and this particular set of images would be beautiful Foiled.
I’m quite in love with the color combo of this card, the dark blue really highlights the watercolor florals, and I used a bit of dark blue in some of the back petals to pull it together. Then with the pop of yellow and green, really reminds me of spring.
HOW TO CREATE THE SIMON HURLEY SPRING SAMPLER COLLECTION SPRING SPRING BUNNIES CARD
Start with a piece of Purple Mist card stock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and emboss it with the Woven Embossing Folder before attaching it to a top folding A2 white card base. 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.
Next, use a blending brush and add Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink over the surface to highlight the woven design.
Then, use the Everlasting Circles Etched dies to cut two circles for the center of the card, one in white, the other Lilac Blossom. Ink blend the white circle with Mowed Lawn and Broken China Distress Oxide Ink to create the background for the bunnies.
Finally, use the BetterPress, Spring Bunnies Set and the Tawny Brown BetterPress ink to imbed the images onto BetterPress cardstock. Color them with Prisma Color pencils before cutting them out with the coordinating dies. Place onto the card with foam squares to add depth.

Such sweet cards! Love the spring colors and the embossed backgrounds are perfect with your images!
thanks so much Amy
Hi, Sandi -The first card is elegant and beautiful. Great choices you made!
The second card is springy and cute!
Lori S in PA
Thank you Lori, I really enjoyed watercoloring that first one
Love the colors in the Mother’s Day card. Very striking. Sounds like you are in need of some spring in Canada! Sending you some of our sunshine!
Thank you Gayle. Not complaining about the snow, we really need the moisture to cut down on the forest fires, besides it means more inside time to craft, haha
Love both cards! I am normally a flower person but I must say your bunny card is the best! I just received my set yesterday which I will use with hot foil. It is one of the cutest Easter sets I have seen this year. Hope you have a happy birthday and fun at the craft shop!
Thank you Linda, I hope you have a blast with those adorable little bunnies. Don’t you love that you can foil with the BetterPress Plates too, I love that about them. Thank you on the birthday wishes, you know I will have fun at the craft store, LOL
I love both cards and think the darker backgrounds are perfect!
Enjoy your birthday treat and have lots of “retail” fun! xoxoxo
Thank you Sharon, I will, LOL
