Hi card making friends and welcome back. Today I’m playing with the new Nested Leaves Die Cut Plate from Simon Says Stamp and I’ve got two cards to share with you. This is a beautiful full background plate that cuts out these lovely kaleidoscope leaf pieces. It’s so beautiful and makes very cool designs.

A note about picking colors:
Sometimes I find it very easy to choose which colors I’m going to use on a card, sometimes not so much, LOL. Last year I decided to invest in the COLOR CUBE. I first bought the online version, but quickly realized I would prefer the box of cards (so I bought both of them). I have found them to be a very powerful addition to my cardmaking. If I have a couple of colors picked out, (as in today’s case), it helps me to fill in the remaining colors. If I’m drawing a complete blank, I can choose a color combo card, and pull the colors together easily.
Example: For today’s card, I already had Spellbinders Dahlia and Tuscan picked out. I added Simon Says Stamp Mint but I needed one more color. So I pulled this card from my Color Cube. I added the stone color, but it was too close to my white background, I tried the dark green and it was ok, but it made my card quite dark. I settled on Spellbinders Teal Topaz. I don’t have that exact blue that’s on the card, but the lighter teal blended nicely with the color combo I was going for. You don’t have to choose all the colors on the card, just pick the ones you need.
Anyway, just thought I would share this with you as many of you have asked about my new color choices. I like the Color Cube so much, I became an affiliate for them. So if it’s something that interests you, I would very much appreciate you using my link for your purchase.
Nested Leaves Die Cut Plate Card #1
Products Used:
- Nested Leaves Plate
- Love You Greetings
- Daisy Heads Die Set
- Elegantly Modern Greetings
- Nested Circle Dies
- Dibble Tile Embossing Folder
- Etched Dragonfly
Start by cutting the Nested Leaves Plate out of White, Dahlia, Tuscan, Mint and Teal Topaz. Glue the White one to the front of a top folding A2 sized white card base and then glue in the pieces of the colored cardstock.
Next, using circle dies, cut a circle for the center and stamp a sentiment in black using the Love You Greeting stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.
Then, die cut the Daisy Heads in white with Tuscan gold centers and attach using foam squares to pop them up.
Nested Leaves Die Cut Plate Card #2
For this card I started with a matte gold card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, placed it inside the Dibble Tile Embossing Folder (my new favorite) and run through the die cutting machine. Attach this to a top folding A2 sized white card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″).
Next, die cut the Nested Leaves Plate in black and glue over the card front.
Then, gold emboss the Hello sentiment from Elegantly Modern Greetings and then use a circle die to cut out the piece and attach it to the center of the card.
Finally, cut the Etched Dragonfly from the matte gold and mount it to the top of the sentiment circle.
