Spellbinders Hooray! It’s Your Birthday

Well today we are playing with frogs and sloths.  Bet you never thought you’d hear that from me, haha.  Spellbinders Hooray! It’s Your Birthday is the name of this months Large Die of the Month Club Kit and that’s where the adorable convertible driving froggy is from.  The flying Sloth is from the small Die of the month, Birthday Bliss.  But they are not supposed to be the star of the show today, as I’m showcasing the Stencil of the Month and the BetterPress Plate of the month.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. I’ve included my full disclosure below.

Spellbinders Hooray It's Your birthday

Both cards are full of products from different November Clubs, so let’s dive in and check them out shall we.

two hand made children's cards with blue and green backgrounds, a frog driving a card and a balloon flying sloth

Products Used:

Spellbinders Hooray! It’s Your Birthday – Frog Card.

Start with a piece of white cardstock 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″, and using the November Stencil of the Month club, Squared Away, stencil the surface with BetterPress Inks:  Teal Topaz, Laurel, Cruise, Peridot, and Azure.  I moved the stencils around so there was some white space remaining instead of filling in the entire back.  I like the look of the overlaid squares.

Next, add a white mat, 4″ x 5-1/4″ and then attach to a Waterfall blue card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.  Finally, create a top folding A2 sized white card base and attach.  4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″

Then, die cut the frog and car.  Glue all the pieces together and attach to the card front using foam squares to pop it up for some dimension.

Finally, using this month’s Clear Stamp and Die Set Confetti Wishes, stamp a sentiment in black ink onto a scrap of white cardstock.  Die cut the sentiment with the coordinating die and use foam squares to attach it to the bottom center of the card.

Spellbinders Hooray! It’s Your Birthday – Sloth Card.

Start with a piece of white cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″ and tape it to the top of the BetterPress machine.

Next, using the 4 plates that come in the Paint the Town BetterPress Club Kit for November, and the registration plate (clear acrylic plate with placement guides that you attach to your magnetic plate), add the brush strokes across the entire piece.  I used the BetterPress ink pads in Teal Topaz, Laurel, Cruise and Azure.

PRO-TIP – this background done in different colors would also look awesome in some Tim Holtz style vintage cards.

Then attach the piece to a A2 White card base using foam strips.

Next, die cut the Slot, balloons and large cloud.  Glue the Slot together and attach him and the balloons to the left side of the card.

Then, place the cloud in the Misti and stamp the “Hello” from the Confetti Wishes Stamp and Die set.  Attach it with foam squares to the right.

As usual, I LOVE how the club kits can all coordinate with each other.  Once I had these two backgrounds created, I could have used any of the “animals” or sentiments sets from this month to create the finished cards.
