Hi cardmaking friends – welcome back

Today I’m sharing Embossing Folder Magic #6 – How to Create Faux Watercolor with Embossing Folders. One of the goals of this series is to help you get more from the embossing folders you already own by showing you a variety of techniques that create completely different looks, and you may notice, I have a couple of embossing folders on repeat today!

In this episode, I’ll show you how easy and fun it is to create a beautiful faux watercolor effect using Karin Brushmarker Pro markers and an embossing Folder. No artistic talent is required – you can color as neatly or as messily as you like, and you’ll still achieve fabulous results.

Oh yeah, I also share how to make the Shimmer Spray I use in the video.

So grab your favorite embossing folders and a handful of markers, and let’s have some inky fun together!

How to create the Faux Watercolor with Embossing Folders Cards:

Trim a panel of watercolor paper to 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ and set aside.

Open your embossing folder and determine which side has the indented design. Using Karin watercolor markers, color the embossing folder.

Prepare your die cutting machine for embossing.

Generously spritz the colored embossing folder with the “Shimmer Spray” (I show you how to make it in the video), then carefully place the watercolor paper on top. Close the embossing folder, taking care not to shift the paper, and run it through your die cutting machine.

PRO-TIP – Keep a few paper towels nearby. As the embossing folder passes through the machine, quite a bit of water and ink will be squeezed out.

Open the embossing folder and carefully remove the watercolor panel. Blot away any excess water or ink with a paper towel.

Curvy Blossom: 220 Pale Pink, 375 Cerise, 281 Olive Green 071 Lime Green
Apple Blossom: 688 Violet Blue, 654 Turquoise, 105 Henna
Peony Trio: 169 Indigo Blue, 305 Egyptian Blue, 281 Olive Green
