Caribbean Color Splash | Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Card - Sandi MacIver

HI cardmaking friends – welcome back!

Today I’m creating with the NEW May, Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders, and since we’ve been chatting so much lately about color combos for cardmaking, I decided to turn this project into a bold Caribbean Color Splash!

With the tropical parrot, citrus slices, fun umbrella, and playful summer die-cuts, this collection was already giving me all the bright Caribbean vacation vibes — I just leaned into the tropical color palette with vibrant aqua, lime, coral, pink, and sunny citrus tones to really make everything pop.

I paired the dies with the NEW Radiant Day 3D Embossing Folder for the perfect sunny background texture, then finished the card with a sentiment from the Burst of Summer Clear Stamp and Die of the Month.

Let’s jump in, and I’ll show you exactly how I created this tropical Caribbean-inspired die-cut card.

How to create the Caribbean Color Splash Card:

Create the Card Base:

Trim a panel of Waterfall cardstock to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and emboss it with the Radiant Day 3D Embossing Folder. Attach it to the front of a white, A2-sized top-folding card base.

Cardstock Used:

Waterfall, Beeswax, Tutu, Dahlia, Mulberry, Carrot, Rainforest, Peridot, and Teal Topaz. (all Spellbinders and linked below).

Die Cut the Art Pieces:

Die cut all the tropical elements from your chosen cardstock colors and assemble each piece. Before adhering anything down, dry fit all the die cuts onto the card front to audition placement and balance the design.

Once your happy with the arrangement, use small pieces of foam tape to attach everything to the card for added dimension.

PRO-TIP: Start by attaching the pop can at the bottom of the card, then tuck the remaining elements in around it as you work your way upward.

Add a Sentiment:

Choose a sentiment from the Burst of Summer Clear Stamp and Die set for May. Stamp it onto white cardstock using black ink, then die cut it with the coordinating die. Attach it to the top right corner of the card using foam squares for extra dimension.

This Caribbean Color Splash card makes a BIG tropical statement with its bold summer colors and playful die cuts. I hope it inspires you to experiment with bright color combos and create your own fun tropical card designs!
