Charmed to Know You | Spellbinders November Clubs

I’m back today with my final two Spellbinders Club cards for the month!

First up is “Charmed to Know You”, featuring the Spellbinders November Large Die of the Month.  This set creates the cutest purse design, and the real fun comes in decorating it with all the little extras – charms, chains, locks, filigree details, and more.  There are tons of mix-and-match pieces, so you can truly customize your design and give it personality.

Now – full confession – I am not a “charms dangling off the purse” kind of girl in real life.  I love a sleek handbag.  But, for this crafty version, I had to add that irresistible little bear charm….and of course, he became a panda because pandas rock!

To finish things off, we’re wrapping up the month with the BetterPress Club of the Month:  Paws in the City.  For this one, I went super clean and minimal – soft ink-blended background, crisp black silhouette, and lots of open space.  It’s simple, graphic, and right on trend.

How to create the Charmed to Know You Purse Card:

These cards come together quickly, so here’s a simple breakdown of the steps:

1 – Build the Card Base

Start with a top-folding A2 sized white card base:  (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″).  Layer a Waterfall cardstock panel on top, trimmed to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

2 – Create the Purse and Charm

Die-cut the purse pieces and charms from your chosen cardstock colors.

Emboss the purse panel using the Petite Tuft Embossing Folder, then adhere it to the lower left portion of the card front.

3 – Add the Details

Attach the clasp, lock, and purse handle – leaving the bottom of the gold ring unglued.

Cut a small slit in the top of the charm, slide it over the ring in the handle and then sure it with a tiny bit of liquid glue.

Add foam squares behind the bear for dimension and stability.

4 – Finish with the Sentiment

Hot foil the BetterPress Paws in the City sentiments in gold onto black cardstock and adhere it to the lower left corner of the purse.

The background is softly ink-blended in pink and teal for a gradient effect. A gold-foiled sentiment at the top reads, “Life is better with girlfriends.” The card sits beside a fountain pen and greenery, with branding text at the bottom that reads, “Project by Sandi MacIver | Spellbinders Paper Arts.

Steps to create the Life is Better with Girlfriends Card:

1 – Create the Card Base.

The basic steps are the same as the previous card, except this time we’re using a black card front instead of Waterfall cardstock.

Cut a white cardstock panel to 4″ x 5-1/4″, then ink blend soft pinks and teals across the entire surface.

Ink Used:

Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks:
Bubblegum, Carnation, Surf and Ocean

2 – Press the Image

Place the ink-blended panel onto the top clear platen of the BetterPress System and position the press plate into the magnetic chase.

Ink the plate with Versafine Clair, then run it through your die-cutting machine to press the silhouette design.

Repeat the process to add the small dog image.

3 – Assemble the Card

Adhere the pressed panel tot he card front, then finish the design by adding one of the gold-foiled sentiments at the top.
