Hi cardmaking friends! Today I’m sharing Embossing Folder Magic #2, and this time the highlight is how you can use two simple die cuts to create a beautiful embossed frame around your art piece. It’s such an easy way to elevate your card design while still keeping everything clean and elegant. I’m pairing this with ink blending and a soft swipe of white ink to bring out all those gorgeous embossed details. creating stunning, dimensional panels for your handmade cards. This technique is easy to customize with your favorite color combos, and it’s a wonderful way to stretch your embossing folders to complete different looks every time.
Watch the video below for step-by-step instructions, and you’ll find the cutting measurements listed below for easy reference.

How to Create the Embossing Folder Magic #2 cards:
Cutting instructions: – All Hammermill White Cardstock
Card Base: 4-1/4″ x 11″ score and fold at 5-1/2″
Card front: 4″ x 5-1/4″ – cut with the A2 Rectangles Dies and then embossed
Layering Panel behind art piece: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″, die cut with A2 Rectangles dies

What are the best Embossing Folders to use?
Look for embossing folders that feature a design across the entire surface. This creates maximum interest in the outer framing panel and really lets those embossed details shine. Folders with a smaller, centered design tend to leave the outer frame looking flat, which doesn’t give you the same beautiful, dimensional effect.

Which Inks are Best for This Technique?
I use Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks– they’re my go-to because I love their light, medium, and dark color families, which make blending so easy. I’ve also tried this technique with Distress Oxide Inks, and Gina K Designs and Hero Arts inks all work beautifully as well.
PRO-TIP: Make sure your white pigment ink pad is well inked before you begin–this makes a big difference in how well it highlights those embossed details.
