Hi card makers, I’m so happy you dropped in today. It’s time to play with the Hero Arts June My Monthly Hero Kit. I created two cards to share with you, one from the My Monthly Hero kit for this month, and one from the newly released Add Ons. The theme is “Under the Sea” and the products are just beautiful. If you like to color, you are going to LOVE this release.
I have linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. If you find value in my posts and free PDF downloads, you can support my artistic journey by using the Compensated affiliate links at no cost to you. As always, I appreciate your support.
How to create the Hero Arts June My Monthly Hero Mermaid Card:
Start by using a Misti to stamp the mermaid and clam shell in Intense Black ink onto White Cardstock.
Then use Copic Markers to color the images.
Hair: E50, Y21, YR24, YR13, SKIN: E000, E00, YR00, E03 TAIL: YG03, BG11, BG13, BG15
After that, cut out the images with the coordinating Dies from the kit.
Creating the Background:
Ink Blend Hero Hues thistle and Pool Party ink onto a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of white card stock.
Next, splatter with water to activate the ink. Stamp the Pool Party Ink pad onto a plastic surface, add a bit of water from the Waterflow brush and then flick it across the front of the card front for added bubbles and watermarks.
Then, use the Mermaid Cove stamp set (from the new Add Ons), and White heat emboss some kelp and bubbles in white. Use some of the ink to watercolor in some of the leaves.
Finally, white heat emboss a sentiment at the top center of the card front before attaching it to a top folding A2 sized card base.
Use Foam Squares to attach the two art pieces and add a large pearl to the clam shell.
Hero Arts June My Monthly Hero Card #2
One of the many fabulous new add on sets for this month is another Looking Glass Die Set. This one is Looking Glass Pearl.
Start by cutting out the three layers from White card stock (there is a diagram on the package of the package to assist you).
Then, color the images with Copic markers
I used the same markers as the MMH fish cards I shared a couple of days ago here:
Next, cut a 3-3/4 x 5 piece of white card for the card front. Use blending brushes to add Pool Party and Pool Inks over the entire surface. Cut out a Square from the center top.
Then, add the layers the clam first, next is the green kelp, finally, the coral and sand. Back this with another slightly larger square also ink blended in the same colors to create the backdrop
Finally, attach all of this together with liquid glue and then attach to a top folding A2 white card base.
Cover the pearl with Nuvo Dream Drops Cloud 9 which is an iridescent white and really makes it look like a pearl. Set aside to dry for at least 30 minutes.
