New Card Making Video BetterPress Card Ideas

Hi card making friends.  Today I’m sharing a New Card Making Video BetterPress Card Ideas.  I’m creating with the new Pressed Posies Collection release from Spellbinders and while I was playing, I turned on the video camera to share 3 different things I like to do with the BetterPress Plates.  Embossing, Hot Foiling and of course Inking.  You can also heat emboss with them, but I’ll save that for another video.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

As you can see, I completed the video with 4 different cards using the three techniques.  I also changed up the cards to a variety of styles and colors and hopefully one or more will appeal to you.

The video walks you through each step of the different techniques and I promised to add all the cutting instructions etc. here.

BetterPress Card Ideas Card #1

Start with a white card base 4-1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5-1/2″.

Next, add a card front in black, 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.  Then cut down the BetterPress inked background on the Portabella card stock to 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Attach a torn edge black belly band across the front, and wrap some twine around it three times.

Then, color the flower with Tombow Markers:  N45, N75 and N65 for the center, 990 and 977 for the flower and leaves.

Finally, add the flower using foam squares to add dimension, and one of the You are Everything Sentiments that we white glimmer foiled onto black cardstock.

BetterPress Card Ideas Card #2

Start with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ card base as above.  Next, add a matt cut at 4 x 5-1/4″.

Next, cut the BetterPress Cosmos background piece that we inked in place down to 3-3/4 x 5.

Then, as in the video, use the stencil and ink pads to color in the image.  When done, use a copic marker BG11 to color in the background.

Finally, splatter with white and gold ink before attaching to the card front.  Then add one of the You are Everything Glimmer Foiled sentiments.

BetterPress Card Ideas Card #3

Start with the same A2 sized white card base.  To that, attach a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the Dahlia cardstock.

Next, using the Essential Arches dies, die cut the white cotton card piece that we embossed at the beginning of the video.

Then, add the florals down the left side, over that add the sentiment and finally, embellish with the Spellbinders Two Tone Pink Dimensional Dots.

Purple card with a purple flower and a purple wax seal created with new card making supplies from Spellbinders

BetterPress Card ideas Card #4

Start with the same A2 sized white card base and attach the Purple Mist panel that we embossed in the video.

Next, attach the purple flower and stem of leaves down the left side.

Then, over that, the black and white sentiment.

Use the wax seal kit, the purple enchanted wax and the new Timeless Blooms Wax Seal to create a seal.  Once it’s cool, is the gold paint marker to highlight the design before attaching to the card front.

Finally, embellish with the Spectrum AB Color Essential Gems.

  1. What a video! You sure got a lot in there! The first card got my attention because it looks to me like a way to use all our flowers and still make a card for the males in our lives. The portobello paper looks so nice with the colors you used in the flowers. Card two is so pretty. Love all the colors together. I think you must have read my mind on the last card. I just got into wax seals again ( first experience was in the days where they were sticks and sealed envelopes only) and I am looking for ways to incorporate the seals into card fronts. I recently sent out two cards with the sera’s in the envelopes—cards arrived seal-less. The seal looks like it is meant to be there on that card. Also wanted to ask if the gold paint pen you mentioned is the Uchida gold metallic pen on the Spellbinders site. Loved the video!

    1. Hi Linda, thanks. yes the first card is meant to be a masculine card, and I love doing the sepia colors. Wax seals on envelopes. Once you place the seal on the envelope, place it inside a clear cello bag before mailing. it has a better chance of staying on. Otherwise, when the envelopes go through the postal machines, the wax gets peeled off. Yes the gold paint pen is from Spellbinders, I linked it under the video and on my blog. Thanks so much for watching.

  2. I can’t pick a favourite – they all appeal in one way or another. Such a beautiful collection and you created four fabulous cards. Love your work Sandi!
