I’m so excited that HERO ARTS is our Special Brand for this month. I’ve had a long love affair with them and their stamps. It’s been almost 30 years since I bought my first Hero Arts stamp. I heat embossed Christmas cards that year and to this day, heat embossing is still one of my favorite techniques – how about you?
For a fabulous selection of card ideas, make sure you hop right through for 12 amazing ideas using Hero Arts products. Don’t know who we are? A bunch of crafty friends, who had a similar “crafty” beginning and thought it would be fun to hop each month and share our projects with you.
And, we have another CRAFTY FRIENDS Shopping discount for you good Today and Tomorrow only: (September 20th and 21st) – when you shop through one of our design team members.

I ordered this Hello Toucan stamp and die set along with the Jungle Frame die a couple of months ago from Hero Arts. LOVE these toucans, and I’m kind of fond of the Rain Forest too, so what a great way to combine them. I cut the Jungle Frame out of watercolor paper and used the Hero Arts Liquid Watercolors and the SMOOSHING technique to blend those beautiful colors together.
Behind that I added a second card layer and I blended some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks to create the perfect backdrop for my images.
Finally I stamped my toucans and flowers onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and used my Copic markers to color them. I cut the birds out with the coordinating dies, and fussy cut the flowers as I didn’t want the white edge around my flowers.
For the final embellishments, I used Nuvo Crystal Drops (not show on the video as I decided on this afterwards)…Apple Green for the flower centers, and Pink Orchid around the Jungle portion of the card.
CHECK OUT THE VIDEO, for how I set up black heat embossing the sentiment in the perfect spot – MISTI to the rescue (again).
