Pretty Pink Posh Crocus Flowers Cards

Hi friends and welcome back to my card making blog.  Today I’m sharing Pretty Pink Posh Crocus Flowers Cards.  The first flowers of the spring, they pop their little purple heads out of the snow, bringing us the hope of warmer days ahead.

I love their bright cheery faces so of course I reached for my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens to color them up.

Pretty Pink Posh Hello Friend Sentiment Dies

The Pretty Pink Posh Crocus Flowers set also has coordinating dies to quickly cut out your pretty artwork .  As the stamp set does not have sentiments,  I used the Pretty Pink Posh Hello Friend Sentiment die and used one word on each card.

How to Watercolor Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens:

Start by using a Misti and Gina K Designs Amalgam Black Ink to stamp the images onto watercolor paper.  I chose Watercolor over Bristol as it stands up to the additional blending required on the petals.

Next, use a water brush to wet a petal, add a small amount of 084 Deep Violet at the base of the petal and then use the water brush to pull it up over the rest of the petal.

While the petal is still wet, add 081 Light Violet to add a little warmth to the color, and blend it slightly.

Continue around each flower painting one petal at a time.

Water coloring the Leaves:

Use the Misti Stamping Tool to stamp the leaves onto watercolor paper with the Gina K Designs Amalgam black Ink.

Wet a leaf and add a very thin line of 047 May Green and 042 Turquoise Green, blend then together with the water brush.

Once everything is dry, go back to the flowers where the stamen shows and add lines of yellow without blending.

Use a very light touch with the 084 Deep Violet and add the veins to the petals.

Lastly, use a white gel pen to add heads at the ends of each stamen.

The card base is Neenah Solar White 110# 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored and folded at 4-1/4 top folding.

Use a Life Changing Brush and blend Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass on the portion of the card where the florals will be placed.  This is a simple way to add a real pop of color behind those beautiful purple flowers.

Die cut the images with the coordinating dies.  Also die cut the sentiments.

  1. Beautiful. I love the crocus colors and the blue hint of a background. This is one of my favorite flowers from PPP. Love your layout on both cards.

    1. thank you Billie, I thought just a hint of blue in the background would really set off the purple.
