I chose to create with the Simon Says Stamp Happy Bee Day Release, and I have two cards to share with you.  As a gardener, I have a deep affection for bees.  We have flowering trees to feed them in the spring.  I always plant tons of flowers for them, and it’s self-serving too. I invite them in to cross-pollinate my zucchini plants, because hey, doing that with a Q-tip isn’t that much fun, LOL.

Simon Says Stamp released the Happy Bee Day products a bit before this release, as they offered a FREE Online Class on YouTube last week.  You can catch the rewind here.  The little bees in the stamp set are having fun celebrating birthdays with their gifts, balloons, and cakes.  On the right, I used the larger honeycomb die from the Honeycomb Tag die set to create the 3D honeycomb in the center of the card, and then decorated around it.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Happy Bee Day – Card #1

Start with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of pale yellow cardstock.  Add the Honeycomb stencil over it and ink blend Simon Says Stamp Honey ink through it to create the background.  Make some spots darker than others to add depth, then splatter it with black paint.

Next, Stamp, color, and cut out the bees, then dry-fit them onto the card front to determine where you would like to stamp the sentiments.  Place the card front into a Misti and stamp the sentiments in black ink.

Then, attach the card front to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Next, attach the bees and the die-cut honeycomb.

Finally, embellish with the Duckling Embellishment Mix (yellow sequins).

Simon Says Stamp Happy Bee Day – Card #2

Start with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of white cardstock.  Using the larger honeycomb die from the Honeycomb Tag Die set, cut 5-6 times around the center of the card front, lining up the die so that it appears as one continuous die cut.  Save the cutouts.  Once you have the hole the size you want, tape some of the cutouts back in to create the honeycomb die-cut look.  NOTE:  leaving some of the die cuts in adds interest to this section too.

Next, use a blending brush to add the Honey ink to the card front, again, making some spots darker than others to add depth.

Then, place the piece into a splatter box and splatter with black paint.  Once the paint is dry, place the card front into the Misti to stamp the sentiment in the bottom right corner.  Attach the card front to the card base.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, stamp the bees, flowers, and leaves onto Hammermill white cardstock.  Color with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies.

Copic Markers Used:

Yellow:  Y11, Y151, Y17, Y38, Black:  C2, C7, 100, Cheeks:  R20, Greens:  YG13, G02, and Y15.  Pinks:  RV10, RV13, Teal:  BG10, BG11, BG13, Violet:  V12, V15.

Next, use foam squares to attach the art pieces around the cut-out honeycomb.  Embellish with the Duckling Embellishment Mix.

That’s it for my card share; now it’s time to hop along to the next spot in the hop, which is Alberto Gava.   If you get lost along the way, here is the entire list of makers.
