Simon Says Stamp Sweet Peacock Valentine

Good evening, crafty friends!  Tonight kicks off the brand-new Simon Says Stamp Heart to Heart release, and it’s bursting with winter charm and Valentine’s Sweetness.  For my first card, I combined four fabulous new products from the release:  the Sweet Peacock Stamps and Dies, Basic Hearts Dies, Lavender Hearts Embellishments and the absolutely stunning Wireworks Hearts Embossing Folder (my personal favorite from this release).

I’ll break down how to make this adorable little shaker card below –  and you can browse the entire Heart to Heart Release HERE.

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Sweet Peacock Valentine Card:

1 – Create the Card Base

Start with a top folding A2-sized white card base.

Next, trim an additional white panel to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and emboss it using the Wireworks Hearts Embossing Folder.  Because this is a deeply-etched 3D folder, you may need to trim away a little overhang once the panel is adhered to the card base.

2 – Create the Double-Heart Shaker Element

Use three of the Basic Hearts dies to cut the heart frames from Lavender and Audrey Blue cardstock.  Layer and glue the hearts together, then use the largest die to cut a matching heart from clear acetate.  Adhere the acetate to the back of the layered hearts with white liquid glue.

Once the glue is completely dry, add foam strips all the way around the back of the heart frame to create a shaker well.  Lay your embossed card front face-up on your work surface and sprinkle a small pile of Hearts Embellishments in the center area where the shaker will sit.

Remove the release backing from the back of the foam strips, add a touch of liquid for extra security, and carefully place the hart shaker frame over the embellishments – sealing them inside.  Place something slightly weighted on top and allow it to dry for 10-151 minutes so everything bonds securely.

3 – Stamp, Color and Cut out the art piece and sentiment

Using the Sweet Peacock Stamp and die set, stamp one of the peacocks in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Hammermill white cardstock.  Color the image with copic markers and die-cut it using the coordinating die.  A a few playful highlights with a #10 Sakura white Gelly pen to bring your peacock to life.

Copic Markers used:  Blues:  BG01, BG02, BG05, BG07, Purples:  V12, V15, V17, Greens:  YG01, G14.

Next, stamp one of the coordinating sentiments in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink  and cut it out with the matching die.

Use foam squares to adhere both the peacock and the sentiment to the center of the heart shaker window.

And that’s it – your sweet and sparkly Valentine Shaker Card is complete!  I just love how the bright little peacock pops against the soft heart frame and textured background, and those floating Lavender Hearts add the perfect touch of whimsy.  I hope this project inspires you to play with some of the new Simon Says Stamp Heart to Heart Release goodies and spread a little handmade love this season.  Happy Crafting!
