More Distress Oxide Ink Backgrounds

Hi friends and welcome back.  Today I’m sharing More Distress Oxide Backgrounds.  This time I’m playing with the ink pads.  I love that Ranger brought us such a huge selection of these inks and that we can use them for so many techniques.

More Distress Oxide Ink Backgrounds

As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I decided on pinks as my main color for today’s card.

With this background I also included the Emboss Resist Technique.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and snowflakes first in Wow White Embossing Powder before starting my blending.

The Ink pads I chose are Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry.  I started with the light pink in the middle using the Ranger mini blending tools to blend it out with the other two pinks.  Once I had them completely blended, I added just a touch of the Squeezed Lemonade to add a little light to the sky.

To create the snowbank, I used the MFT Stitched Basic Edges Dies and popped that along the bottom of the card before adding those adorable little owls.

The MFT Warm & Feathered Hugs stamp set has 3 adorable little owls which are so much fun to color.  I used my Copic markers on them and included the colors in the PDF download below.  They are die cut with the coordinating dies and popped up on the card with foam squares to add a bit of depth to the card.

ABOUT THE INKS:

Blending with the Distress Oxides is amazingly easy as they are so forgiving.  The ink is part water-reactive dye and a pigment ink fusion that creates these beautiful Opaque colors.  Therefore you can add one color on top of another.  You can also blend them together to create a whole new color.  Pick 3 – 4 of your favorite colors and give them a try.

You can use them with stamps, stencils and direct to paper.  They are water-reactive for a oxidized effect, watercolor with them and they are perfect for the smooshing technique too.

You can also use the Distress Oxide Sprays to create pretty backgrounds as I shared in this video post:

This card also qualifies for the “Pink” challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Blog – Wednesday Challenge.
