Hello my crafty friends and welcome back to my cardmaking blog. Today I’m excited to share a new video series I have started, Distress Oxides Color Combos and Cards. Each Sunday (hopefully), I will share one or two color combos and then I’ll make a card(s) with them, start to finish. Read on to watch the video and download the FREE PDF file for these quick and easy cards.
I’m also Sharing New products from the Simon Says Stamp “Love You More” release and see the end of this post for a chance at some BLOG Candy
To start us off, it’s pinks and purples with Spun Sugar, Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserves. I love this color combo, it’s warm, springy, reminds me of summer, love, weddings, happy occasions. From this we are going to make two cards.
Here is the video for today’s Distress Oxides Color Combos and Cards you can watch it CLICK HERE on my blog, or in HD over on my Youtube Channel – Don’t forget to subscribe so you get notified every time I load a new video.
As you see in the video, once the blending was finished, I heat embossed the New Simon Says Stamp Heart to Heart Background stamp onto the art piece and then die cut out a heart from the center using the SSS Nested Hearts Dies….that way I could make two cards from one art piece!
I attached the piece to a A2 White card base and put it back into my Misti Stamping Tool to stamp the sentiment in the center of the heart cut out.
Then I added the second sentiment which is cut from the SSS CZ Designs Sentiment Strips included in the SSS Love you More Release. These are all pre-printed, all you do is cut them apart and attach them to your cards. SO MUCH quicker than heat embossing sentiments onto black card stock, LOL
I wanted my embellishments to match perfectly, so I blended more Seedless Preserves onto a scrap of white card stock and used the small hearts in the Nested Hearts set to die cut out a few more.
For the second card in today’s Distress Oxides Combos and Cards, I uses the cut out heart. To add some interest to the background I embossed it with the new Memory Box Pin Point Leaf Plate before matting it in SSS Smoke card stock and then the White A2 card base.
Across the heart I added the word “LOVE”, which is another NEW Memory Box die: Love Airy Script. I die cut it 3 times, stacked it and then brushed it with the Seedless Preserves ink as well so that it matched perfectly.
The addition of the second sentiment in black really grounds the card and the added hearts pulls the colors together.

Fantastic cards Sandi! Love the colors and your designs are perfect! 🙂
Hi Sandi I love your colour combos of these inks – so pretty.
This release has a lot of thinks I would consider my favourite but the Memory Box Leaf Plate is top of my favourite. Could be used throughout the year on so many different cards.
Looking forward to seeing your colour combos each week.
Beautiful cards. I love the “paper” you created.
I have some similar products in the video (heart dies, inks) but I like the Memory Box Pinpoint Leaf. I can see using this on a variety of cards.
It’s a keeper for sure Jane, it has a few heart images to go with it that you will also be seeing very soon
I love the sentiment strips – what a good idea! I thought the Heart to Heart background stamp was too busy but having seen you use it I really like it and think it is my favourite product from the Love You More release.
I thought so at first too Kathy, but I have since created 3 cards with it, and I’m quite in love, haha
As usual another stunning card. Love your video.
I just love your style and I’m so ready to get my hands on these inks to play. You have such a great eye for color!
I absolutely love the sentiment strips! But –everything is awesome!
I love that Heart to Heart background stamp. When you ink it like you did, it really softens it and brings out the heart pattern. Thanks for always providing such great ideas and especially for the tutorials!
aw you are so welcome Dayle, glad to hear you like them, I never know if people are actually using them, haha
Very elegant Valentine’s Day card!
I’m looking forward to your Sunday Color Combination blog!
You’re so great coming up with ideas and the cards are always beautiful!
Thanks Karen, I’m liking that new video series too, haha
